I am Caleb and I started Third Space in 2011 with a vision to create beautiful outdoor spaces where people create community and memories. I wanted a place where our team members were valued and respected.

I am passionate about details and quality in everything we do. I love the outdoors, when I’m not working you’ll find me playing tennis, hiking 14ers, cold plunging, or hanging with my family.

I’ve traveled all over the world, my favorate countries I’ve visited are Sudan, India, and Guatemala.

Third Space is about creating spaces for people to create memories with friends, family, and neighbors. by @thirdspacekc

Dreaming of a new pergola, covered patio, or deck for next spring? 🌿

Before the first post goes in the ground, most outdoor projects in Johnson County and Kansas City need a permit. And every city has its own rules!

Our latest blog breaks down which projects need permits, how HOA approvals work, what the process looks like step by step, and why fall is the best time to get started.

A beautiful Sunset Hill project. by @thirdspacekc

Ever stare at your backyard and think "this could be so much more"? Same. That's exactly why we built Fern, our AI design assistant, right here on our website.

Just tell Fern what you're dreaming about (patio hangout? private retreat? backyard entertaining zone?) and in minutes she'll hand you a custom Design Vision Book, complete with concept renderings, a plant palette, and design notes built just for your yard.

No forms. No waiting. Just a conversation and a vision.
