It's Banned Book Week, so we're looking back at the thoughts of Co-Founder @mcargill28 at last week's @cityclubofcleveland chat. You can watch the full video on @ideastreamneo's YouTube page and then shop on our website and Bookshop page for banned books.

It was a pleasure and an honor to host @tiffanydcross at ThirdSpace last week. Hearing Tiffany in conversation with @stefbrownjames was like eavesdropping into their yearly beach catchup between friends.

Sept. 24, we're having a Queer Open Mic hosted by @freekwingo where literally anything goes (as long as it's tasteful). Seriously, you can do a standup routine, juggle, offer hot takes, do a live cooking demo, whatever! But keep it under 8 min.

And here's the catch: there's not judgment. There's no sandman to pull you off stage because there isn't one. by @thirdspacereadingroom

Rooted & Ready is a one-day Interfaith Civic Workshop that brings together faith communities and community members across differences to build foundational relationships, engage honestly around reproductive justice and bodily autonomy, and activate participants toward concrete civic action. The workshop is rooted in the belief that faith communities are essential partners in the civic landscape — and that healing, relationship, and action are not separate from one another. by @thirdspacereadingroom

We're right in the middle of Cleveland Book Fest and we wanted to share where we will be for this week.

Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 5pm: Dr. Ibram X. Kendi is at MLK Library talking about his new book Chain of Ideas: The Origins of Our Authoritarian Age. If you've been trying to make sense of the political moment we're living in, this is the conversation to be in.

Thursday, Sept. 17 at 10am: Andrea Davis Pinkney brings And She Was Loved to MLK Library for a celebration of Toni Morrison's life and legacy. Morrison belongs to all of us. This one is worth showing up for.

Friday, Sept. 18 at 11am: Sarah Aziza, the 2026 Anisfield-Wolf memoir winner for The Hollow Half, sits down with Nadeen Abusada for a conversation about generational displacement, ancestral memory, and what it means to find yourself in the land of the living.

Three days. Three conversations that matter. All free. Registration is required. by @thirdspacereadingroom

What stories live in the places that shaped you?

Inspired by the life and work of Nell Irvin Painter, Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards honoree, Just Keep Talking invites teens, adults, and families to come together for an afternoon of conversation, writing, and storytelling. Through simple creative activities, we'll reflect on the people, places, and experiences that shape who we are. No writing experience is needed. Everyone has a story to share.

Presented in partnership with the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards, this gathering extends the celebration of Painter's work by inviting Clevelanders to consider the stories within their own lives and communities.

This free event is part of Cleveland Book Fest, a month-long celebration of literary arts bringing readers, writers, and communities together across Northeast Ohio throughout September.

Lake Erie Ink, the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards, Writers in Residence, CHARP EDucation Consulting + community partners are coming together to make room for stories across generations.

Come add your voice.

September 10th, 4-6:30pm, all ages are welcome! by @thirdspacereadingroom
