POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Spent the morning hiking a 5-mile loop to break in new @merrell hiking shoes in preparation for our Spring Break trip to Havasupai.
I love San Diego so much and Miramar Reservoir did not disappoint this time of year. Spring was in full bloom.
I chose Merrel’s because I have a pair of their trail glove shoes that I love. The ones I walked in today are the Moab 3 Waterproof Hiking Shoe. The shoe itself was comfortable until about mile 3 when I think it was my sock that was causing soreness in a few toes on my left foot and a hot spot on my right baby toe. Otherwise, it is grippy, sturdy, has a wide toe box, and my heel stayed snug in the back.
I wore it the rest of the day for errands with my sister and my feet felt better. I think it will get more comfortable, but giving it a go a few more times with the right pair of socks. taken in Lake Miramar by @this_middle_age_era

❤️ I started celebrating this weekend of love with my sister for a little Valentine’s TJ Maxx gift exchange.
It was a fun way to spend time together while testing how much we know each other through small gifts with a limited budget and selection.
Hang out to see how we did! ❤️ taken in Encinitas, California by @this_middle_age_era

GRWM as I head out to get my 2nd round of @function lab testing and share what my book club chatted about last night!
My husband gifted me @function health testing this past Christmas. While I have requested blood panels from doctor’s visits before, they never seemed to really explain my results other than I am within “normal ranges”. But what does that even mean?! Well, after this, I’m about to find out and I’ll share my full experience later.
Meanwhile, one of the topics my book club touched on last night was a shopping day…which I love. It sounded like she had fun and laughed about how she walked away with “office work clothes”.
Well, I say, “Wear it all and wear it anywhere!”
I am one who dislikes being in workout clothes all day, so this sentiment really speaks to me. ☺️
With that, I went to my appointment wearing this:
Sweater by @aritzia
Jeans by @levis
Socks by @stanceofficial
Sneakers by @adidas
Pendant necklace is an old one.
Sunglasses by @ysl
Earrings by @madewell

GRWM to meet up with my childhood bestie so I can gift her a friendship bracelet! ☺️
If you’re as lucky as I am to have one you’ve kept in touch with since KINDERGARTEN, I’m sure you’ve shared and traded many handwritten notes, makeup, secrets, and friendship bracelets.
We met in the heart of San Clemente @oursparechange for our appointment. They had a great selection of gold-filled and silver styles to choose from and we went with a gold dot-line style that was delicate, but not precious…just like us. 😂
After, we headed to San Diego so meet with her college friends for dinner.
Since it was a full day out, this is what I wore.

First Monday of 2026.
I thought “maybe I’ll join a gym this year”.
And then I thought of all the reasons why I’ve loved my garage workouts.

Here are a few of them.
1) I get up, brush my teeth, grab a drink, and get right into it. No time wasted on travel.
2) As you can see here…no cute outfit, no makeup, no hairstyle necessary.
3) No lines, no waiting for equipment.
4) Perfect time to listen to a podcast, book, or my own music without getting overstimulated.
5) No outside conversations…it helps me stay focused on form and finish.

I’m sure I’ll think of more, but for now, here’s my top. by @this_middle_age_era

2025 was a trip…literally. There are so many memories in between all of these moments it was hard to choose just one. In fact, there’s probably a better moment to share, but was so present at the time I didn’t even capture a photo. (I know…some photographer I am! 😂)
With that, I want to remind myself that I focused on consistency in 2025. Consistently eating clean and well, consistent with my workouts, and consistent with my supplements, no matter where life took me…dance competitions, swim meets, amusement parks, day trips, road trips, plane trips, etc.
I was 80/20 and never felt deprived or I missed out.
With that, this year has me thinking about how I can be better, for my family, friends, and myself.
Thanks for hanging with me. taken in San Clemente, California by @this_middle_age_era

What tracking devices do you use?
Currently a 2.
Sorry it’s been a minute since I’ve posted, but it’s been a busy summer thus far!
With that, I’ve been in a bit of a rut trying to intentionally add back calories after being in a deficit for about 16 months.
I started a small deficit to lose some perimenopause weight and get a handle on the after dinner snacking I would partake in while winding down before bed. I learned it didn’t help me at all!
I thought I would start logging my meals again just to see how I’ve been doing, but I wanted to use something better than the last app I used.
Enter @lumen.me
I got it today and excitedly breathed my first breath immediately after its initial charge.
It’s a super compact breathalyzer that measures CO2 levels which tells me what type of fuel my body is burning for energy - carbs or fat.
The way I want to use it and the app is to tell me when and what I should be eating for better workout performance.
I’m not an athlete, but I do weight training workouts 4-6x a week, which TBH is not my favorite thing to do.
My motivation truly comes from wanting to maintain strength and cognitive health as I get older.
I’ll keep you posted on how it’s going…but for now, I posted the app screen after I logged my meals and connected my Apple Watch. by @this_middle_age_era

The sun hid all weekend before today and I was ready!
This @hm find had been patiently waiting in my closet for the first Spring like day…not too hot, too cold, or too windy. It’s also giving boho which I’ve always loved.
It paired perfectly with my bootcut jeans and ballet flats from @madewell.
Also, since I’ve been between dance and swim events, this bag from @fpmovement held it all and more! taken in San Clemente, California by @this_middle_age_era

Where did the ☀️go?!
It’s been gorgeous here the last couple of weeks until today, the first weekend of May.
They don’t say May Gray for nothing around here with today’s drizzle and cold wind. It’s certainly living up to the title!
Anyway…I’m sure it will all pass and get back to normal soon so for now, a little throw back to just a couple of weeks ago when I pulled out a goodie from @beyondyoga to warm up my new favorite staples.
Bummed you can’t really see my shoes in this video because it goes so well with the @athleta tote I picked up before my recent trip to London. It was the perfect size, complete with a bottle holder and zippered to keep it all safe!
London highlights @olivelightimages, but I’ll share some here soon because it was SO GOOD! by @this_middle_age_era

I’ve had a pair of brown/neutral colored tennis shoes on my list for a couple of years now since a girl trip to Santa Barbara. I tried on a pair of light brown suede Vejas in a boutique, but passed on them because it kinda looked like I had no shoes on! 😂
When I spotted these, I had to have them! They’re a mix of nylon and suede with different shades of neutral, a perfect combo. I picked them up on @netaporter.
I paired it with a vintage cashmere sweater from J. Crew, Levi’s wide leg jeans, and hat from a cute coffee shop in San Diego @birdrockcoffeeroasters. by @this_middle_age_era

A typical fall day in So Cal means chilly mornings and beautiful clear, blue skies.
This coatigan kept me warm until lunch and will pull it back on again at dinner.
I belted it with a studded one from @madewell layered over a @pact bodysuit, @levis jeans, and a little trendy pair of mesh, dark leopard print ballet flats by @stevemadden.
