What a week. Our new Aston Martin Vantage GT4 landed from AMR in the UK on the 16th, hit the track for the first time last Wednesday and a few days later we were racing our first @worldracingleague weekend. Practice Thursday, practice and qualifying Friday, then straight into an 8-hour endurance race Saturday followed by a 7-hour on Sunday. Result: P5 Saturday and P3 Sunday - couldn’t be more proud of this team to podium in our first event in the series. First off, big thanks to @envemotorsports for supporting the team - it was a last-minute decision to come to this event and they really stepped up to help us race. We’re proud to fly the ENVE flag. Huge thanks to @astonmartinracingofficial for building and delivering the GT4 on an incredibly tight timeline, and to the AMR engineers for helping us get the tune into WRL GTO compliance on very short notice. Thanks to @airpower.racing for setting up this brand new car and supporting us all week. @tolley94 on crew chief/strategy and @_willtoth as car chief did an awesome job. @mattjaskol was with me all week helping to dial the car in and co-driving and @sabrecook somehow found time in her busy pro racing schedule to come drive with us - its really enlightening seeing how these pros take on an endurance event like this. Also thanks to @drivenbybcm, saving the day by jumping behind the wheel for a session Saturday. I’d like to thank my driving coach @brysonlewracing for helping me transition into this new platform - and also congrats to Bryson and his team on their P2 Sunday. Had a great first experience with WRL. Great racing, great people and a really well-run weekend. We are already looking at the calendar figuring out which WRL event we can race next. Our first WRL race was a success, P5 yesterday and P3 today. We still have a lot to learn but really enjoyed the weekend - the @worldracingleague crew have put together a fantastic series. We are definitely planning to come to more races. Thanks to @envemotorsports for supporting us on this race. Thanks to the whole team at @airpower.racing. Proud of how @airpower.racing got this new Aston Martin GT4 ready for the track after delivery from the UK just 10 days ago. Set up is still not quite there (only 3 days on the track) and we are still new to the WRL pit mechanics and strategy - nonetheless we are happy with P5 in our first @worldracingleague race today (8 hour endurance). One more race tomorrow, a 7 hour starting at 8am. Come out and watch! Side note, this is the first big race after the @thewestdesert grand opening and we have to say we love what they have done with this track so far! A few pics and clips from my last year at @umcupdates - if you have driven here, you know what an amazing track this is. It’s been a while since the hey-day after the opening in 2006 when the track haf ALMS, HSR, AMA Superbike, and Grand-Am Rolex… Unfortunately things went a bit sideways after founder Larry Miller passed away and the it was sold to a company that had no interest in maintaining it as a world-class venue. There is renewed hope: This weekend the new Utah owners of the track will be having the Grand Reopening! Their commitment to making a long term investment to create a multipurpose venue for the local community as well as national and international motorsports - is incredibly exciting!
