Dr. Myles Munroe said that "vision is the ability to literally see the invisible. It gives you the power to go out and do the things people say you can't."

The photos of building @healthykids242 have been showing up in my photo memories over the past few weeks. I remember Dr. Johnson and I walking into this empty shell of a space with a sense of purpose and the vision to create a space where families would love coming to have their little ones looked after.

We sketched a floor plan in a notebook, stood firm in our faith that our vision would come to life, and went about putting in the work to get it done.

Dr. Munroe also said that God gives you the vision, but not the plan, the destination, but doesn't show you the path because if you had any idea what you were up against, you'd quit before you even got there.

I am so glad that we persevered. My heart gets full every time I see kids and their families enjoying the space. I am still a little in awe that we are business owners with unlimited potential for growth in the Healthcare space.

To anyone sitting on a vision and purpose because you're afraid, trust God. He gave you the vision. He'll give you the tools to see it come to life.

I’m a pediatrician. My role is to care for children. But over the years, I’ve realized that caring for children often means caring just as deeply for their mothers.

It starts with a prenatal consultation, and then I show up at the delivery—there to welcome a brand-new life. From that moment, for the next 21 years, I become a consistent presence in a family’s life. For many moms, I become one of the few healthcare professionals they’ll see regularly after giving birth.

Let that sink in: After their six-week postpartum visit, many women don’t interact regularly with another healthcare provider until they’re pregnant again. That leaves pediatricians in a unique position—one where we’re not just caring for children but also helping mothers navigate some of the most physically and emotionally demanding years of their lives.

We’re often the first to spot postpartum depression. We have the opportunity to talk about maternal nutrition, mental health, sleep, and exercise—not because it’s officially part of our job description, but because no one else is doing it consistently. If we’re doing our jobs right, we become a soft place to land. A space where overwhelmed moms—powerful women, executives, attorneys, politicians, teachers entrepreneurs—can come undone for a moment, admit they’re struggling, and ask for help.

As a mother of three with a demanding career, I understand that struggle on a personal level. When I tell moms they’re not alone, I mean it. I’ve been there. I am there.

That’s how I became a women’s health advocate—quietly, unintentionally, and out of necessity. Because mothers need support. And often, we’re the ones in the room to give it.

There are a lot of new faces here since the beginning of the year. For those of you who are new, allow me to introduce myself.

Hi. I'm Tamarra, but everyone calls me Tammy...

Busy woman over 40. Wife. Mom. Pediatrician. Business owner. Fitness enthusiast. Wellness warrior. Child of the King.
I have many roles, but I wake up everyday with the same goal: living life with purpose and joy.

I’m on a journey to wholeness—mind, body, and spirit—and I want to inspire every woman who sees this page to take the time to create the life she deserves.

My hope? That when people look at my life, they’ll see a woman who lived well—and encouraged others to do the same.

Welcome to my world!

If your baby still seems hungry after you fed the usual amount, the answer may be more milk, not cereal!

Most babies aren't developmentally ready for solids until around 6 months. Introducing them too early can cause feeding difficulties and may contribute to constipation.

And remember, going a few days without pooping isn't automatically constipation, especially if stools remain soft.

If you're confused about what to do if you're baby's still hungry, remember to ask your pediatrician for guidance. We're here to help you raise happy and healthy kids.

Signed, a pediatrician who is just trying to keep everybody's bowels moving. 💩 by @thisdocslife

The baddie under the scrubs is obviously a struggle, but the real hardest part of being a pediatrician lately?

Trying to practice good medicine in an era where misinformation often reaches parents before we do.

TikTok doctors. Viral health hacks. Fear-based content. Wellness influencers speaking with absolute certainty about things that are anything but absolute. And algorithms that can make the loudest voice sound like the most credible one.

More and more, a pediatric visit isn’t just about diagnosing and treating a child. It’s also about undoing something a parent heard online, explaining why the viral video they watched doesn’t tell the whole story, and rebuilding trust in evidence-based medicine.

And I get it. Parents are trying to make the best decisions for their children. They’re searching because they care.

But good medicine doesn’t always fit neatly into a 30-second reel.

That’s actually one of the reasons I keep showing up here.

Because if misinformation has a platform, good medicine needs one too.

So yes, there’s a baddie under these scrubs. 😂

But there’s also a pediatrician who takes the responsibility of giving parents trustworthy information very seriously. 🩺❤️ by @thisdocslife

I prayed for this life.

Not just the career, the accomplishments, or the things people can see. I prayed for the freedom to enjoy the life I was working so hard to build.

For slow mornings. For peace of mind. For the ability to be present without feeling guilty about everything else I could be doing.

And none of it happened overnight. There were sacrifices, long days, difficult decisions, and seasons when the life I wanted felt so far away.

But here I am. Walking my dog on the beach at 9 AM on a Tuesday, reminded that some of the biggest blessings aren't things at all.

They're moments. They're choices. They're the freedom to simply be.

I worked hard for this life. I prayed even harder. And I don't take a second of it for granted. 🐾🌊

For anyone still in the trenches, this is your sign that greater is coming. Hang in there.

Turns out, I wasn't unhappy. I was just giving too much of myself to people who never deserved that kind of access.

Less explaining. More calling people out on their bullsh*t. Zero tolerance for foolishness.

Not everyone deserves my time, my energy, or a front-row seat to my life. Learning that has been a game changer.

Life didn't get easier. I just decided that if someone had to be uncomfortable, it wasn't going to be me anymore.

Respectfully, go play in somebody else's face.

We set boundaries over here. 🖤 by @thisdocslife

One of life’s most underrated luxuries is the ability to be fully present wherever your feet are.

Finding beauty in a magnolia pod, feeling the magic of your favorite artist performing live, or simply having the opportunity to stop and smell wild lavender.

The joy is in the experience, the beauty is in the details, and the luxury is in being present enough to appreciate it all.

Be present wherever your feet are. 🤍 by @thisdocslife

Antibiotics for viruses, but essential oils for bacteria? Make it make sense. 😭

Let’s talk IMPETIGO.

Impetigo is a highly contagious BACTERIAL skin infection common in kids. It typically causes sores that break open and form those classic honey-colored crusts, often around the nose and mouth.

💊 Does it need antibiotics? YES! Small, localized infections can often be treated with prescription topical antibiotics, while more widespread infections may require oral antibiotics (and not old ones you have laying around your house either).

🌿 What about essential oils? There’s no reliable clinical evidence that they safely or effectively treat impetigo. Some can actually irritate already inflamed skin.

🧼 Prevent the spread: Wash hands, keep sores covered, avoid sharing towels, and discourage scratching.

🚨 When to see the doctor: If you suspect impetigo, have your child evaluated for appropriate treatment. Seek prompt care if the sores are spreading rapidly, your child develops a fever, or the surrounding skin becomes increasingly red, swollen, warm, or painful.

Bottom line: Antibiotics don't work on viruses, but they DO work on bacterial infections like impetigo.

Please stop trying to fight bacteria with lavender and good intentions. 😩

A different kind of GRWM: Getting Ready to See My Patients. 😂💄🩺

Because why did I show up to work looking like I was the one who needed emergency intervention? 😭

Listen, my patients are accustomed to a certain standard of presentation, and I simply could NOT let them see their pediatrician looking like she'd been through the trenches. 😂

So there I was, in my office, doing a full emergency glam intervention before my first patient.

Because the medicine will ALWAYS be good, but there's no reason the doctor can't look good delivering it. 💅🏽

Saving lives, serving looks, and occasionally running late on the glam. 😂

Grandma pulled up READY TO FIGHT because the pediatrician said her newborn grandbaby can’t have water. 😭🥊

“ALL my babies drank water and they turned out FINE!”

Ma’am…put the water bottle down. 😂

Babies under 6 months generally do NOT need extra water. Breast milk or properly prepared infant formula provides the hydration they need. Giving young babies water can interfere with nutrition and, in larger amounts, can dangerously lower their sodium levels.

We love you, Grandma. We respect your experience. We appreciate the village.

But we’re gonna follow the science on this one. 😂🩺
