// the current clancy trial has resonated so deeply with me because it shines a light on something we don’t talk about enough—the terrifying reality of postpartum mental health struggles, overwhelming sleep deprivation, and a healthcare system that too often fails mothers when they need support the most // as a mother who struggled tremendously with my mental health during my daughter’s first year of life, i know how isolating the struggle can be ❤️‍🩹 thank god for pictures because it truly was the darkest and heaviest year for me, even while i was getting help ❤️‍🩹 //

// we cannot keep asking women to survive what we refuse to take seriously // we have to do better for women: better research. better access to care. better postpartum support. better mental health care. & we need to believe women when they say they’re struggling // 🤍to every mami who has ever felt alone, ever felt she can’t handle it— you are not alone & you deserve help without judgment🤍//

Sedona, Arizona - 2020

If you’ve been following over the years - you know I love looking back at old work, reflecting on memories, & my deep appreciation for life experiences. I’ve always been this way. Looking at old photos can take you back to a moment in time so much that you remember everything that happened that day. When the world closed in 2020, we took a travel trailer to Sedona, we swam in an ice cold creek, Oliver and I wrestled each other in the leaves at the playground, J worked out in the campground every morning, Luna would wear her sunglasses from the moment she woke up until it was dark and would ask for cheese, Oliver carried a fake lizard on his shoulder and everyone that passed thought it was real, the last night of the trip we moved to a camping spot that put the creek in our backyard, it was the best. My point is, take the photos, hire a photographer so you can be in the photos with your family, live the experiences! We love that shit! 🙏🏼

P.S. I love this girl. We had this shot of an open road in mind before we left town. We found this spot after a morning hike and decided to drive back to it at sundown. The first shot in this series was actually taken after I abruptly pulled over and said “we have to shoot here, in this light!” Grateful for this life. taken in Sedona, Arizona by @thishappymess
