On the road to PCD I was just checking in on a freelance installation I'm working on. @anusheel.gurjar shined a light on the screen and it started feeling like a depth maps situation.

All in browser 3.js running at 60 fps with no hiccups.

DOTTED VISIONS

Had a typographic sketch that felt like ink blobs that slowly spread. Took that logic and applied it to videos/images. It purely thresholds the image and applies the dots to the black and white values (can be inverted to either apply to the darker values or the lighter ones)

WEAVING A PATTERN

Recently I have been looking at so many patterns (perks of being around pattern nerds). I thought so much of some of those old hand-painted bollywood movie posters I saw last month at some gallery.

The colours and the use of them were extremely masterful and did so much. That plus I wanted to do something which reminded me of that in my realm of ze video arts.

Did some drive digging and found some old archival footage from the @internetarchive (truly love going through it sometimes lowkey). Used YOLO model for some juicy image segmentation. I might have to dial in some things but I liked this kind of lofi feel of it too

'All the world's a stage' by shakespeare is a piece of art that I keep coming back to from when I first read it in the 9th grade I believe.

Naani's passing was the first I had experienced and it is the hardest hitting one. She was a warm blanket that coddled me to the point where I've never comprehended a life without her presence.

Many of my memories with her and our family kept playing in my head throughout the whole ordeal. It was quite a lot to take in but I'm grateful for those around me who offered me the space to stay with them.

This post is my celebration of the kindest person I ever had the pressure of knowing.

Bunkar Sahab: a day in the life of the weaving spirit

In a world where attention is currency no spirit is made equal.

Once worshipped by weavers across civilizations, Bunkar Sahab now watches those who called for him disappear as handmade craft gives way to machines. The spirit of weaving has become an attention-deficit being, piecing together odd jobs to get by. Freelance advice. Dog walking. Babysitting. Devotion hasn't been paying the bills.

The video is just a small story around the sound sculpture which is about craft, labour, and what happens when the world stops looking.

Pulled one from the archive.
Back when we were doing user testing for my graduation project around, deluloop. Wanted to build a tool for ethical musical improvisation using musical LLMs (with the help of the greatest amogh, arjun, sangharshanan, ayaan).

Lots of plans were falling through but by the randomest chance, I think aaron connected me with @breaking.spl . Following the spirit of improv agam (breaking) brought together a friend of his (@havnur) and another person I managed to connect with through some folks (@aabhaas.tomar) who came together to magically create a musical improv set that lasted for a solid 4-5 hours well into the night.

Seeing them make and enjoy deluloop (was running on my laptop) made me feel quite ecstatic haha

DIFFERENCE

Been using a lot of p5.brush at work recently and realised how much computational randomness works well within the context of something organic texturally like brush strokes. Also been enamored by how unique complex textures can be made digitally. For this, I merged the idea of a kaleidoscope with the madness (and randomness) that the brush library offers to create a jackson pollack-y feel. It uses the gyro on phones to position and also touch enabled as well.
Went away from the scheduled TD posts, since things are happening not so within the confines of a schedule. Just wanted to make this one organic post once lol.
