The holidays look different when you’re parenting a neurodiverse child. And that doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong.

December is louder. Schedules change. Expectations rise.
And our kids are expected to participate the way someone else wants them to - usually tradition based and in a way that makes someone else feel comfortable.

If participating that way leads to sensory overload, meltdowns, and exhaustion—for your child and for you—it is okay to do things differently.

Setting boundaries doesn’t mean you don’t care.
It means you’re choosing safety, regulation, and connection over chaos.

You’re allowed to protect your child’s nervous system.
You’re allowed to protect your own.

You have permission.

🏆⚽️ Big win this weekend at the Club Ohio Fall Classic. These boys managed a shut out in the finals and took home the championship!

A huge thank you to @rony_personal.soccer.kids - our coach! When he handed out the medals today he told the kids that they played an honest game - one they could be proud of.

I admire his coaching style so much. He holds the team to a high standard. Instead of focusing on bad calls or the other team, he always brings the boys back to how they can improve their game. Clearly, his coaching style works.

Gabe has been playing defense and goalie. He played so well this weekend. He’s had to learn new positions this season which has been a challenge for him but he’s done an excellent job. I am so proud of my kid. ⚽️

We are so grateful to be part of Club Ohio. Looking forward to winter training and next season!

Gabe made the decision to switch soccer clubs in the spring. I wasn’t sure it was the right decision but he was confident so we went with it.

We had a tournament over the weekend and I can tell you hands down my kid was right. 🙌🏻

They played beautiful soccer. They worked together. Their footwork and passing was phenomenal.

Gabe played goalie our last game and somehow that kid managed a shut out in pouring down rain.

We didn’t take the trophy home but we played with integrity. We played with honor.

All of these boys played in a way that shows that they trust each other. Their coach lead the team in the way that built their trust in him. And in team sports that is #1.

These boys all did great things this weekend and there is more on the way. 🎉

I do this for me every year. When the kids were little, I did it for them. But honestly I don’t think they care that much about Halloween decorations anymore.

Every year I add something. This year I didn’t have a lot of time so I finished the skeleton ornaments that I started last October. 🤪

I proudly told Joe that I bought nothing new this year. I can’t make the same promise for next year, but this year it all came directly out of storage. Share your Halloween decor below! I’d love to see it.

I doesn’t feel like it should be time to decorate for the 4th of July, doesn’t? The days seem to fly by. I can’t wait to get this one upstairs and on my dining room buffet - we crafted this in the Joyful Crafting Club last month. It was a favorite because of the cute design and the fun embellishments. Still loving the bee themed tray we made earlier this year in the Joyful Crafting Club. I used the vintage glassware I found earlier this year to set the table - initially I thought it was more of a fall color but these glasses are a perfect fit foe the bee tray.

Tiered tray are a simple way to add seasonal charm to your home. You just need a tray, some decor and a place to put it and you’re good to go!
