This is one of the last photos I ever took with my dad. He died on this day—April 21st—in 1998. He was 48.

Two months from today—June 21st—I turn 48.

I didn't think I'd get here. Somedays I didn't want to get here. But I'm here.

48 has always felt like an end to me, but now that I'm almost there, I can see it's a middle. It's a great vantage point for looking both behind and ahead so the next decades of my life can be wiser, more joyful, and more meaningful.

My dad died in the middle. It's brutally painful to imagine what his next decades could have been. But I still need to imagine mine.

I've got 2 months to figure out how to reach 48 with joy and laughter and love and excitement for new adventures. Please share your ideas & wisdom.

Hi friends 👋 It’s been a while since I’ve posted here, but I’ve been busy writing—and not just songs.

2024 was the year I started and ended a songwriting business. Turns out I'm not great at entrepreneurship.
But one wonderful thing that came out of it is my weekly song circle. It's been a highlight of my year.
