Here’s the shocking part of it all — I still do all the things I did as a “trad wife,” I just dropped the label, picked up some soul-fulfilling work, and realized I never had to choose between being the woman I was and becoming the woman I wanted to be.

Now… back to the mess.

There was a time we could barely speak to one another, let alone have a meal in harmony like we did tonight, so please don’t lose hope that healing can happen for your family, too — if you want it.

I filmed this video yesterday, before the Atlanta Journal Constitution released an article today (10/8/26) titled “Crime roiled Atlanta during Covid. Its fallout has shaped governor’s race.”

And wouldn’t you know it, the criminologists interviewed in the article are making many of the same connections I’m making in this video.

Covid didn’t just shut down businesses and schools. It disrupted our entire criminal justice system. Courts were closed or operating at limited capacity, cases were delayed, backlogs grew, and the consequences of those disruptions didn’t just magically disappear when things reopened.

Meanwhile violent crime was increasing in cities ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

Now Atlanta did experience a larger increase in homicides than many other cities. I’m not disputing that. But the criminologists interviewed by the AJC caution against attributing those increases solely to the person sitting in the mayor’s office.

And something else I think is worth mentioning: before Covid, crime in Atlanta was actually DECLINING under Keisha Lance Bottoms. In her 2021 State of the City address, she referenced a 9% decrease in crime during her administration before the pandemic.

So are we going to acknowledge that decrease, too? Or are we only holding her responsible for the numbers that support a particular narrative?

I’m not suggesting Keisha handled every situation perfectly. But I am suggesting we use a little critical thinking before blaming one mayor for something that was happening across the entire country during an unprecedented global pandemic.

Because if we’re going to talk about what happened in Atlanta in 2020, we cannot conveniently leave out what was happening EVERYWHERE ELSE.

Please vote for @keishaforga
