Jack and I have been reminiscing for at least a week about how much we love Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. His observations about the use of color and frame speed, among many other details, left me so touched and impressed—not to mention, edified. Last night we gave it a rewatch and it holds up and then some. Tonight is Across the Spider-Verse. And then we just wait for the third installment. It’s a delight to watch an all-time-favorite movie with an all-time-favorite kid. by @thisisdavidslade

I love my job, but I hate having to be away from K and the kids. That’s been a big, and increasingly miserable, part of 2026. That said, every now and then you get a row to yourself and your hotel has a speakeasy with a secret door (booze is legal, I know…but sometimes fun is just fun). by @thisisdavidslade

Jane and I were trading Simpsons lines back and forth on the drive home and decided we needed to spend some time with the classics. “Kamp Krusty” remains a favorite. “Gentlemen…to evil!” is only one of many flawless bits. by @thisisdavidslade

Not only did Jack get into retro gaming platforms; he also got into fixing and modding those platforms and their games. It blows my mind that he has gotten so skilled, so quickly. I’ve always dreamed of doing my own electronics projects (and I’m still going to make that pedal, @hotcarl_llc) so seeing him just go for it and do all this cool stuff is a joy. by @thisisdavidslade
