🤩FULL CIRCLE MOMENT… From dreaming about winning a grammy as a kid to now being embraced among my peers as part of the Recording Academy’s 2023 new member class, I am honored and excited to be able to continue my efforts of helping to create sustainable impact in the entertainment industry, and beyond.

Today, that journey begins by taking part in District Advocate day with the @recordingacademy #GrammyAdvocacy to fight for music and artists surrounding pro-music legislation by working with local representative in Congress to advocate for the protection of artists livelihood and creativity. From tax fairness to AI, live music and more, this day was created to empower everyone, everywhere to stand with the voices behind the music we all love by becoming a District Advocate!

Today is Music Advocacy Day!

Recording Academy members from across the country are meeting with lawmakers to protect human creativity in the age of AI and ensure music continues to thrive. We are grateful for the time @senatorhick office set aside in speaking with us about how we can continue to protect our rights as creatives because artists do not simply add color to a world someone else built, we bravely help people imagine the world they want to build.

The NO FAKE Act speaks to consent over our voices and likeness. The TRAIN Act speaks to transparency about how our work is used. And the Protect Working Musician Act speaks to independent creators having a meaningful opportunity to negotiate compensation.

History may remember what our technology made possible, but I hope it also remembers what we chose to protect while building it because creativity is one of our human super powers! Many have asked, but I’m not submitting anything for FYC this year... which means I actually get to spend this season doing something I love: listening.

So if you have something in consideration this year, send it to me. I don’t care what category it is. I want to hear the work, understand who made it, and give it a sincere listen before voting begins.

There are no promises attached. I simply believe that before there is a ballot, a nomination, or a GRAMMY... there was somebody who created something hoping another person would truly experience it.

This year, I have room to listen. Please fill it with something worth hearing.

This is one of those honors I sit with quietly, because I know what it actually means.

I am grateful to continue another year as a mentor with @grammyu, and I don’t say that lightly. I was meaning to post this months ago, but truthfully, I’m honored to live it instead of speaking on it.

Mentorship has shown me that I am more than one title. More than an artist. More than a businessperson. I give, and I learn just as much in return. Sometimes more. Growth has a way of humbling you when you are actually paying attention.

As we move into this next phase of the program, I want to acknowledge every mentor and every mentee navigating this industry with intention. Knowing your worth matters. Not just learning how to adapt to rooms that already exist, but choosing to adopt spaces where you can be authentic, respected, and mentally well.

To the people on stage, behind the curtain, in the offices, on the roads, and holding everything together when no one is watching, you matter. Every role is part of the music. The business only works when we see the whole picture, not just the spotlight.

Mental health has to be part of the conversation. We are not algorithms. We are not metrics. Our impact extends far beyond reach and numbers. What lasts are human connections, real relationships, and the integrity we bring into every room we enter.

I am thankful to @recordingacademy and the GRAMMYU community for the trust, the responsibility, and the reminder that growth is ongoing when you stay open.

Coming back to the GRAMMYs after a year of living quietly reminded me of something essential.

Music was never created for an award.
Awards exist because music already mattered.

Sunday night we celebrated nominees and winners, and that deserves to be honored fully. But the reason Music’s Biggest Night carries weight is not the title or the moment. It is because music is the last true universal language we have left.

Across cultures, borders, beliefs, and generations, music moves through us the same way. Through vibration. Through frequency. Through rhythm.

Long before we understood words, we understood sound. The heart is the first rhythm we ever know. Music simply reminds us of it. Again and again. For our entire lives.

So while the world gathers around one night, what we are actually doing is tuning to the same frequency. We are remembering that music brings us together, not by permission, not by selection, but by resonance.

To the winners and nominees, congratulations!! Your work matters and reflects that with your peers.

And to every artist who was not selected, please hear this clearly. If your music has ever struck a chord in someone, if it has helped someone feel less alone, survive a hard moment, breathe deeper, or remember who they are, then you have already activated the true power of music.

Winning is not a statue.
Winning is making life more livable through sound. Through being a conduit as an Artist, connected.

Music bleeds through us because it is breath. Without it, we would not move the same. We would not feel the same. We would not heal the same.

The GRAMMYs matters because music matters.
Not the other way around.

And that is why it will always be worth celebrating.

Entering the last year of my 30s taught me something I will carry with me forever.

“Healing is not linear.”

This year looked like red carpets and quiet breakdowns.
Grammy moments celebrating nominated and winning friends and final concerts where chapters closed.
Airports and beach walks. Sunrises that felt like mercy. Sunsets that felt like release.

It looked like finally accepting the challenge and completing my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training not as a title but as a surrender.
Prayer. Deep prayer and meditation.
Moments of clarity and moments of charity.

First concert with my kids. Becoming a godparent.
Sports events, amusement parks, history made and history honored.

It looked like honoring new love and finding my place in the pride land.
Saying goodbye to homes, people, and versions of myself that no longer served who I am becoming.
Traveling with deep gratitude for the family and friends who stood by my side through it all.

When I wanted to hide, love found me anyway.
The people who love me refused to let me disappear.
They reminded me I am loved even when I did not feel lovable.

I won business deals and lost partnerships.
I cried. I laughed. I rested.
I fought for my tribe and forgave myself for what I did not know then.

I leaned on mentors and mentored others.
I invited God in deeper and learned to walk further, love harder, and dream bigger.

I took long walks.
I created.
I remembered why music is my heartbeat.

I dreamed of Egypt and longed for Africa.
I sat in silence and discomfort.
I stopped running.

I learned to walk again.
Then run.
Then jump.
And I am still learning to fly.

I found myself.
And I returned to myself.

Healing never moves in a straight line.
But if you stay, if you listen, if you love, it always leads you home.

This special @grammymuseum night was an unforgettable Mosaic celebration of creativity and unity. 🌍💫

@stevenchesne powerful video We Are the Descendants—performed in 79 languages—was nothing short of awe-inspiring. It was a reminder of how deeply connected we all are through time and culture. 🎥✨

@shaundrewmusic Pursuit of Happiness painted an incredible musical landscape that held the audience, while @allisoncharneyepstein breathtaking performance of Bridge To Peace Invocation filled the room with pure emotion. 🎶❤️

And of course, @nathalieboninmusic and @julietlyons.music stopped time with @radhikavekaria_ —the true Warrior of Light—rooting our ancestors in the present in a deeply spiritual way, making her performance resonate through the soul far beyond the night. 🙏🏽✨

To top it off, Nashir Mody’s magical presence carried us through the evening with music that left us floating before a heartfelt farewell. 🎶 I really love this community!! A massive shoutout to the incredibly gracious @kittwakeley, whose hosting turned the night & weekend into an unforgettable journey from start to finish. Thank you Kitt for this incredible experience, and for the opportunity to witness such extraordinary talent and strength all weekend long. 🌍💔 This world—so full of division, emphasizing hate, fear, and misunderstanding—has shattered my heart into pieces. But even in the brokenness, I still believe love can heal. It has to.

This song... inspired by the culture of giants’ shoulders that I stand on, used hip-hop as a means of channeling their belief into something better. With the election, protests, war, weather crisis, food and water shortage, I could go on and on… It felt relevant to release this now, and while I know the world feels heavy at this very moment, I hope this song brings a little light to let you know you are not alone—because we still need each other more than ever to continue passing on the message.

If you’ve ever felt the weight of the world on your shoulders, this is for you. If you’ve ever wondered if love can still win with love, this is for you — drops 10/29 @ midnight.
