Why tell the story through the eyes of a child?

It is important to show the full impact that domestic violence and abuse has and how it can impact survivors. We often see domestic violence spoken about with regards to women and girls, but this issue is much larger and more complex than just that.

With our short film John Boy, we intend to bring attention to these areas as well as raising awareness of domestic abuse and violence as a whole. We will also be creating an awareness pack to go with the film that will contain information, resources, and ways to reach out for help.

Violence against women and girls happens so often these days that something must be done. The problem is too big to ignore, and too important an issue not to speak out on.

Things need to change.

Home should be the place that is safe.

That’s one of the reasons it’s so important for us to make this film, to show the effect of this violence through the eyes and perspective of a child, and to use creativity to speak out and try to help those who need it.

We wanted to go for something that captures the dream of football but shows it as distant, with a feeling of John Boy being all alone.

@medeuphony_composer designed it and he’ll be composing our music too. But don’t worry, we’ll introduce you to him properly in another post.

We’ve made an amazing start to our crowdfunding campaign and are currently only £100 away from hitting £1000, which will mean that we have achieved 1/5th of our goal!
