Lava is the edgy yet purified vision of Lara, an artist in a way, an architect by profession, a matcha academic, a barista analyst. Who through her cosmopolitan array of life experiences decided to leave what had been her identity behind to bring life to this project, the simplified outcome of an intricate process — a café in Costa Rica. Exacting ingredients, laboratory precision, an honest, approachable finish.

Bringing Lava to life was possible through a delicious series of iterations, of explorations beyond the trends and far from the bohemian references of the coast of Santa Teresa. Loud but never excessive, able to stand out for its clear personality but stylishly enough to honor its process and reference. Hence the name, the slow and incessant flow of molten rock, moving on seemingly innocent with an undeniable force within.

Bold letters, vintage references, ultimately working in its contemporary edible format. A design process that followed the criteria Lara had been using to make every decision. Highly detailed, well thought, made aesthetic and truthful. taken in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica by @thisislava
