Who Are You Protecting? OFFICIAL MV FULL VID VIA 🔗 IN MY 🅱️IO Directed, Filmed and Edited by: @kayrucreative Colour Graded by: @kayrucreative Cast: @tugbabolatxo @jb.chxrrykh07 @jamjamjuicy @toottoottootts @lighter_flu1d @ddaisy799 @t_iaro by @thisislionofficial
📣 SOUND ON 📣 Who Are You Protecting? INTRO TRAILER 🎥 - @kayrucreative ————————————————— It’s not long ago That I feared stepping into my power Trapped by pre-conceived notions of who I was Controlled by someone else’s vision of who I should be Held captive to someone else’s validation I traversed my inner world with trepidation How do I make sense of all of this? It’s too much So, I ran I ran from my intuition And suppressed my instincts As my foundations got worn down But you can only run so far The disconnect can only stretch so thin Until you start to wither But before I shrivelled up The magic within me started to seethe It knew I deserved better The light within started to blind me It demanded to be seen The intersections collided The patchwork unravelled The multitudes oscillated And I realised that what I feared in the beginning Was being held accountable to the power I hold I represent not only myself I represent millions Now I see That everything I needed was here all along That I AM everything I always thought I was That all of these forces merge for a reason Now that I’ve reclaimed myself It’s time FOR THE REVOLUTION by @thisislionofficial
LION - ‘Who Are You Protecting?’ Single Launch/Mutual Aid Fundraiser SAT NOV 21ST 7-11:30PM @ BELL CITY ❤️‍🔥 TIX 🔗 IN MY 🅱️IO ‼️ #naarm #liveshow #electropop #melbournemusic #explore Corrupt political systems and atrocities around the world force us to ask our leaders one simple, yet heartbreaking question: Who Are You Protecting? To celebrate release of my latest single ’Who Are You Protecting?’, I’m hosting a joint single launch and mutual aid fundraiser at Bell City, in Preston ✨ Supported by show-stopping musicians such as @spicylilmumma and @iammichaelkay , this is a celebration of Naarm talent with political consciousness at the forefront, and more acts still to be announced! 👀 Mutual aid is one of the most effective acts of resistance we can practice, quite literally redistributing money to those in urgent need of funds ✊🏽 After production costs are covered, all proceeds will be split between 4 mutual aid campaigns: @crimesceneaustralia , @focuscongo , @bakri2 ‘s Mutual Aid Fund for Sudan, and @natnacf (Tigray). I commit to being transparent, and therefore will be making a transparency post after the event, with the exact funds sent and receipts included. ‼️ TIERED TIX ‼️ Unwaged - For those of y’all who aren’t working full-time or experiencing financial hardship <3 - $20 + bf Waged - $30 + bf A Little More - For those who have a little more to spare - $40 + bf Donation - If you can’t attend but would still like to donate, please do so here! - $any amount Bell City is unfortunately not an accessible venue, there are many stairs throughout the venue. Mob and TWOC please DM @thisislionofficial on Instagram to be put on the door, and if you’re struggling financially but still want to come, we’ll sort you out, please also DM @thisislionofficial on Instagram. We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and the Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation, the true owners of the land that we live and operate on. We would like to pay our respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. LAND BACK! ALWAYS WAS ALWAYS WILL BE! 🖤❤️💛 📸 - @kayrucreative by @thisislionofficial

Who Are You Protecting? OUT NOW 📸 - @kayrucreative It’s been almost 2 years since I released new material, and it feels SO right to re-introduce myself with this song. I wanted to make it crystal clear that music will ALWAYS be political, and I will NEVER stop using it to stand up for truth and justice ✊🏽 This track is produced, performed, mixed and mastered by me, myself and I. I’ve always produced my own work, but this is one of the first times that I’ve managed ALL of the various processes in making a track. All of the hard work paid off, and I’m so proud of the outcome ❤️‍🔥 I strongly maintain that performative activism is just as bad as ignorance. So, in honour of the chant “Free Free Palestine, Free Free Congo, Free Free Sudan, and Free Free Tigray”, I will be donating all proceeds from this song to these respective mutual aid funds monthly: @thesameerproject , @focuscongo , @bakri2 ‘s mutual aid fund for Sudan, and @natnacf . Since streaming platforms pay artists abysmally, I recommend buying the track from Bandcamp (🔗 in 🅱️IO) where you can pay as you feel! This will ensure we raise as much money for these causes as possible 🙂‍↕️ Words are nothing without action. When funds are needed to save people in life-threatening situations, it doesn’t feel right to make money from this song. Even though I created this song by myself, it still took a village to realise the creative vision. I’m so thankful for the cast of the music video: @tugbabolatxo @jb.chxrrykh07 @jamjamjuicy @toottoottootts @lighter_flu1d @ddaisy799 @t_iaro ; and, I’m especially thankful for @kayrucreative , the mastermind behind all of the visuals and video content you see for this track. It was such an honour to create this world with her, things couldn’t have been more aligned 🫶🏽 Now, it’s time to rise up, and revolt. by @thisislionofficial
