Man, Whistler… pictures hardly do this place justice. It brought a lot of firsts for us with it. Most importantly, the first of us Lumovic brothers to tie the knot. Grateful to have had the chance to shoot my brother’s proposal to his fiancé Gill. Was an honor to design all the merch & creative for this year, as well lead the A group with my boys @leekt03 & @rez1k_. One of the best events of the year for a reason, and was another unforgettable day in the books.

4 Races. 4 Wins.

Bit surreal to be writing this. Crossing the line in first at Grit was something I envisioned countless times that kept me going through a lot of shit. Committed to racing back in November, with Grit being my A race of the year, and boy oh boy, the training and hard days to come would definitely humble me. Couldn’t fathom people doing 2-4x the output of the workouts that felt damn near impossible at the time.

Lost count of sessions I completely blew up and would question everything, how I’d even do this. Toss in all the challenges work, life, relationships, health, and beyond throw at you — was daunting to hold a commitment to a sport that realistically isn’t going to give you anything in return for your work.

Man, was I wrong about that.

A friend asked me what all the cycling stuff was about. Might sound a little corny, but it’s incredibly synonymous with life, and getting the most out of it — if you really want to.

It’ll never come from just the training. The gear. The nutrition. Fueling. Quality of food you consume. Sleep. The recovery weeks where you’re itching from the inside out to keep on the gas. Taking care of your body in ways you never have before. And most importantly — your mental.

It’s a cumulative effort of all the little factors from every corner of life over time that make the difference. The commitment taught me so much about so many aspects of life and the discipline required to get what you want, if you want it bad enough. Feel like I unlocked a new level for myself, in, and far beyond the athletic bits.

Grit was special because it was all those things finally looped together and executed, in exactly the way I wanted and fought my ass off for. Not to mention getting to share my first win in the sport with both of my parents watching, and my last win in the series with some of my closest friends all there.

A bit sappy, yeah, but it’s a milestone that I couldn’t be more proud of in proving myself, to myself. For those part of the journey — you know who you are, and I’m immensely grateful for everything. Couldn’t say it enough, it’s all about the little things.
