Huge shoutout to @jolene_rodriguez_ and @brokenenglishproductions for putting on such a dope event with the Women’s Director Initiative! The films, the directors, the stories—everything was so powerful! Getting to watch these incredible films with friends and seeing my girl @jainaleeortiz shine was just incredible! Still processing the last two weeks. It’s been such a beautiful journey! Feeling an immense joy in my heart. Knowing that I made the right decision to push through with this film. Even when I didn’t raise all the funds I had intended to. Even when I was scratching my head, staying up late nights trying to figure out how I was going to pull this off. A part of me always knew I would. Here I am two screenings later. To hear @dulehill say “And the GRAND JURY PRIZE FOR EXCELLENCE IN CREATIVITY, goes to JODÓN” …came as a shock to me. I was dumbfounded. I even went on the stage and asked “Are you serious?” . Pinchhhh me! Thank you thank you @sagaftrafound @citynationalbank @dulehill @mariovanpeebles @amylandecker @missnuma Charlotte Wells @officialrochellerose Everyone of the films in this selection touched my core. To hear people, laughing, crying, laughing again then crying some more—that may be one of the most satisfying parts of being a filmmaker. I love movies that sit with me after the credits have rolled and long after the years have passed. My goal was to achieve that by sharing the parts of me in ways I never imagined. Now I get to watch my film make people feel and I hope to make many more. I can’t help but add that today we are witnessing such atrocities I don’t think I even have the space to fit it here. But we’re watching students accused of sexual assault write essays as a form of punishment. Meanwhile some are deported for non-violent crimes or minor marijuana possession. Biggest crime is being poor in America. Thats why I made JODÓN @jodonfilm. Thanks Again and Again to my incredible TEAM all cast & crew!! @yoyoorick @gregdiaz4 @erinramirez @gezess @leilanyceleste @fevicioso3 @itselijimenes @gezess #sagaftrafoundation #shortfilmshowcase #filmmaker #independentfilms #nycfilms by @thisismarilynmark

What is meant to be will be 🎶🎵🎼 I poured my heart into this project! God, the Universe and energies that be placed all the missing pieces in my path. The pieces — the Cast & Crew. For me this is an example of how to heal through art. How do we connect with people who don’t necessarily look like you? Touch their heart. My path feels clearer. Thank you @sagaftrafound and thank you to the jury of Actors I’ve grown up watching, Producers who’s work I truly admire, Directors who I’d be elated to work with! Thank you thank you thank you for this tremendous award and recognition! @mariovanpeebles @amylandecker @missnuma @dulehill @citynationalbank 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 This is for us! #latinostories #hispanicheritagemonth #dominicansinfilm #filmmaker #indiefilmmakers Story by: @thisismarilynmark Directed by: @erinramirez Written by: @thisismarilynmark @yoyoorick Executive Producers: @thisismarilynmark @yoyoorick Produced by: @gregdiaz4 Co-Producer: @itselijimenes Starring: @gregdiaz4 @leilanyceleste @thisismarilynmark @fevicioso3 @osoyouredope @itselijimenes Director of Photography: @gezess Line Producer: @ramon_pesante 1st AD: @lorenajorge22 Production Designer: @rachelaileena Art PA: @erikbezauri Edited by: @b_boogey_xl Colorist: @remotehauspost Music by: @a.madamada Songs: @dominicanpiano 1st AC: @rodvln Camera Assist: @holapao.la G&E: @vsnyfilms Key Makeup: @beautynglow Wardrobe: @gabygabs @iamkimberliflores Sound Op: @brauliolin Script Supervisor: @la_jfer Casting Director: @ejhcasting Production Assist: Carlos Otero, Karina Martinez, Illustrator: @kevinahartofficial VFX: @louismedina_ Still Photography: @wanderininfant @bexxfrancois by @thisismarilynmark

#dominicanrepublic Part 2. #islasaona If we stop living as creatives, where do we pull from? One thing I’ve learned in my years in this unpredictable industry is that one must continue to live a full life …and you actors, writers, directors, producers and production crew know exactly what I mean. So create the memories, Hollywood can’t take away from you. taken in Isla Saona República Dominicana by @thisismarilynmark
