Just finished a bookmark for Space Boy! Its my favorite webtoon, and I reccomended it for our friend book club! Onto Annihilation for September!qq

Final picture in post shows some notable events! Ran a half marthathon and got a sub 2 hour time! Our bookclub meeting at Dennys lol. Universal studios! Climbing! And Quincy :))

There are a lot of things to celebrate all at once in this post: I just turned 22, I graduated from college, and my thesis project is this 3D Catan set, which has been such a genuinely fun & challenging project to work on(I can’t get into it all here, but it wasn’t my first choice, and at certain points I was nervous I wouldn’t have anything to show at all).
I’m proud of all the work that has gone in but I am also feeling extremely grateful to be where I am. I feel like these days, I’m constantly reminded that I am surrounded by extremely talented, driven, and kind friends. That I have a fierce, loving family backing me, shouting as loud as they can, enough to make those in the vicinity remark, “Collins family is pretty loud, huh”, and I realize now that I totally get it all from them.
I feel extremely grateful to have the best roommates I could have possibly asked for: Alejandro, Fatima, Beef, and Logan. You guys are awesome, and I’m never going to forget the late-night brainstorming, 1 am Taco Bell runs, board games, and movie nights. We’re not all moving out yet, but it feels like it’ll be difficult to stay together long term. I will try my absolute hardest to keep living in the area, just need to get a job first…

Chloe & Anjali, thanks for being great friends, getting boba, and sharing the tea! Max & Hemanth & Joel, the board game nights are genuinely the most fun that I have had while gaming EVER. Cole! Get on here too, I haven’t seen you in a little bit, but I greatly appreciate our bro time & modeling that tank was fun. Justin for sending me reels. Cooper for lending me his tablet, I’m finally getting my own now! Naomi + Anjali, thank you for making that entertainment design poster. I need to get it framed! Erica, Maya, Kelly, Daijiro, Gabe, etc., for the fun Friday nights after/during class. Keriya for the yap sessions, and for having a great vibe. Meris for the hw hell discord, those VCs kept me working. Emily, Emmet, and Jamie for having really good vibes. And this is more recent, but thank you, Quincy, for being incredibly thoughtful, kind, and going on a run with me for our first date.

A few paintings I made this week while I had no internet and bruises from uncalculated stops while skiing... really enjoyed chilling out on the kitchen table with my tablet and laptop listening to tool, blur, elo, takanaka, radiohead etc.

1-2: Grandparents' cabin entrance - excited to print this out and gift it to them.
3 - 6: Jan 4th & 5th paintings. Bringing my friends to Ikedas, which has been a family staple of Tahoe trips for years. Their truffle parmesan fries were sooo good.
7-8: older paintings that I finished there and haven't posted yet

Last post of the year! This semester, I was working on a wooden board game called Soaring Skies! A game about floating sky islands, exploring, and going to war with your friends! I want to thank everybody who came over and gave their feedback in the playtesting of the game, and everyone who played the game! The playtest nights of seeing everyone get invested in the game were the highlights of making this game. Even now I’m still tweaking values, adding new tiles, and changing the characters to make the game more fun!

This is a compilation of the progress of making Soaring Skies over the last 3 months. From designing the game, to playtesting, to creating and laser engraving artwork.

Hi! This is my Gamejam post/ stuff I’ve been working on for the last few months! + some pictures with friends. The game jam was super fun this year, and I am shocked that we not only finished the project but placed 2nd overall! WHAT! For context, we were one of two teams this year that did not have a programmer, and with a lot of help from the mentors there and YouTube, I was able to help program the game, with no programming experience… I definitely played more of a supportive role this year, doing all the technical jazz to try to bring the team's ideas to life, such as learning how to rig and animate a 3D dinosaur, setting up GitHub for everyone, managing the Unity scene, scripting, basic 3D models, etc. Everyone really pushed themselves this year, and we didn’t let a lack of experience stop us from being ambitious!
The Team:
@starryyberries - made dino + poster art
@doodlyworlds - Sam and I were the 2 people working in Unity to make the game. They did amazing textures for the floor, wood etc.
@odddnet Did concept ideation for the game, helped with small art tasks, and models.
@numberonericefan did an amazing job with the title arts! As well as texture painting for the boxes, small props, etc.

7 - 8: Anjali's birthday party! Also my first time going to a bar and ordering a drink, and it was such a fun time! I am really grateful to be friends with you guys.
9: Pictures of a whole buncha of stuff, board games, climbing, game jam team picture! Lightbox, and meeting Hardy Fowler.

I wanted to create something happy and joyous for my environment class final, and this is what I came up with. It’s a cozy sci-fi room, with 2D characters drawn in. And all in all… I'm glad that class is over.
I want to focus on designing new things! This assignment started with using AI to create references for the final, and our entire class refused to do so! When I asked if I could do linework for the final, the teacher said I should try to make my final look more like the AI images on my reference board.. I hope that, despite the circumstances, this piece can give energy to people rather than take it away. Good luck creating artists!

1-3: Final Piece
4: A sketch I created last night, I have been burning out a little bit with the amount of 3D and Zbrush work I have been doing, so I want to draw more.
5: Same class, a 3D Star Wars environment I was creating for the assignment. I really like how it is going, but I ran out of time/ motivation to finish this piece in class. Possibly over the summer, I will finish it up, and maybe create an animation for it!

This was one of the first ZBrush projects I took on while learning the program last year, following a tutorial series by Nexttut based on a concept by Stephen Oakley. The goal was to get comfortable with ZSpheres for building a creature base and familiarize myself with ZBrush’s brushes and workflow. Zbrush is very much the oddball in terms of 3D programs, but doing little cheat codes to pick brushes is very satisfying, so it's pretty fun to use.

I revisited the sculpt this semester after picking up new techniques in my current ZBrush class, pushing it further with ZRemesher, and adding lighting and materials in Blender.

Huge thanks to Hugo Hernandez for 3D printing my creature! After seeing it on a screen for so long, it’s so cool to finally hold it in the real world. (pictures on pages 8-9)

Also, thank you Louisa, for helping me format the first few pages; they look much better cropped with some grain in the back

This is an environment that I made for my Environment 2 class with Lisa Liang this semester. The goal was to take a previous design and envision it in a new scene. It wasn't the flashiest assignment, but I got to hone my compositional skills and spent less time modeling out assets for this assignment.

1 - 4: Final scene renders, and paintover

5: Blender scene flythrough
6 - 7: for fun painting, learned a new shader for adding cracks to the dish!
8: 2D composition value studies completed for the assignment. I really like how these turned out, if I decided to take this in the 2D direction.
9: Early sketches for the project. Originally, I wanted to showcase a garden next to the building, but I struggled to show that in 3D.
