— Bev & Jon, last October

I heard this morning that it was their 1 year anniversary and I was instantly brought back to their honeymoon session in Venice.

When the session had finished, I had every reason to be on my way and they every reason to enjoy a romantic evening to themselves. But we were having such a fun time that our session went on through the night and turned into a string of laughter and many Aperols

Me, a pool of prodding questions, was so taken with their love story and this deep sense of respect, gratitude and friendship underneath the romance.

The best projects are the ones where I walk away with more than beautiful photos to fill my portfolio — but with a greater understanding of what love is as well.

What these two have is so special.

It always feels special when photographing old friends.

I’ve known Jake since high school and I also remember when he met Samantha.

The two started as college friends, growing up together and making memories until one day “just friends” turned into “so there’s this girl…”

This may surprise you, but my favorite part of photographing a wedding day isn’t the ceremony, and it’s not even the portraits, it’s cocktail hour.

Why?

The bride and groom are riding a high, the bridal party’s shoulders have finally dropped. The wine is being poured.

and just like that, summer’s over 🪁

I had the pleasure of photographing 7 weddings this season and meeting so many incredible people — I actually ran into the same guests at times, funny enough!

The next few weeks will be spent zoning in on editing before things pick back up again for fall 🍂
