🚨BREAKING NEWS: Lizzy Dobres, Labour councillor for Trinity ward Wandsworth, has announced her resignation today.Dobres has secured a new role that is politically restricted, meaning she cannot continue to serve as a councillor.She is also expecting a baby and has stated that she is in a position where she must put her family first.🏥 She has served for four years as councillor, as Chair of the Health Committee and also worked to address violence against women and girls locally.🗳 A by-election will be held in the coming weeks for Trinity residents to select a new councillor.📃 Wandsworth is a Conservative run council and the Tories are one seat from a majority. 📰 BREAKING NEWS: The Leader of Wandsworth Council Aled Richards Jones has announced he will step down as Conservative Group Leader and Council Leader once a successor is appointed at the Council meeting on 22 July.📝 In a statement, he said the decision follows increased professional responsibilities in his legal career, making it impossible to give the leadership role the time and focus it requires.📰 He will continue serving as a councillor for Northcote and says he will fully support his successor.▶️ More to follow. by @thisisriverside
