We have team names.

Boston Hunters
Los Angeles Queens
New York Heights
San Francisco Firebells

The WPBL’s first season has another piece of its identity, and it is getting easier to picture these teams taking the field.

A little piece of Sept. 22, 2026. ⚾️

The final out of the inaugural WPBL Championship, and the Los Angeles Queens are champions.

Just me, my iPhone, a net in front of me and enough excitement to make keeping the camera completely still pretty unlikely. 😂

I’m so glad I have this little piece of the celebration to look back on. What a night. What a season. by @thisiswomensbaseball

“What we did was cool, but what’s to come is gonna be even cooler.”

Ashton Lansdell said it after helping the Los Angeles Queens win the inaugural WPBL championship, and it feels like the perfect sentiment for women’s baseball heading forward.

Year One was pretty special. There’s plenty more ahead. ⚾️ by @thisiswomensbaseball

Bringing back the TIWB player cards. ⚾️

Valerie Perez batted .333 with 11 hits and nine RBI for New York during the inaugural WPBL regular season and went all 33 at-bats without a strikeout.

This Is Women’s Baseball.

It’s Ayami Sato delivering a pitch. Skylar Kaplan putting a swing on one. Rakyung Kim working from the circle. Denver Bryant getting after it on the infield.

It’s competition, skill, intensity and athletes playing the game they love. This is women’s baseball. ⚾️ by @thisiswomensbaseball

Hinano Beppu’s smile was pretty hard to miss in Springfield. ❤️⚾

Earlier this year, she told TIWB, “I hope young girls in Japan will feel that they can freely choose their own path in baseball and continue playing without giving up on their dreams.”

Then she crossed an ocean to keep chasing hers.

by @thisiswomensbaseball

23 strikeouts in 17.1 innings. And a little history to go with it. ❤️⚾

Jaida Lee’s 11.9 K/9 ranks No. 1 among qualified single-season performances in Sam Kauffman’s women’s pro baseball data, which includes available stats from the AAGPBL, JWBL and WPBL dating back to 1943.

That’s a pretty fun place to land in Year One. by @thisiswomensbaseball

There is something powerful about not having to be “the girl” on the baseball field anymore.

Justine Siegal has spent years helping create places where girls and women can simply show up, compete and be ballplayers.

And now that path stretches all the way to professional baseball. ❤️⚾ by @thisiswomensbaseball

A really special Sunday for TIWB. ❤️⚾

I had the chance to help close out the SABR/IWBC Women in Baseball Conference today by sharing a little about This Is Women’s Baseball and the inaugural WPBL season.

I learned so much, made some wonderful new connections and loved every minute of it.

So grateful to SABR and the International Women’s Baseball Center for the invitation.
