📍Boulder Beach, Cape Town

A must add to the bucket list!

One of our favorite stops in Cape Town. A beach of free-roaming African penguins. Thanks for the recommendation @ziaworldtravel 🤝❤️

Aside from some of the more remote parts of the world, this is one of the best places to see penguins up close. Watching them swim around the beach and protect their eggs made us feel like we were in a PIXAR movie.

This was at the top of my(Thomas) bucket list and I’m so glad we made the hour drive from Cape Town to make it happen.

Another childhood dream come true!

📍Nara Deer Park - GO EARLY(not for why you think)

We showed up after lunch, thinking the crowds would be horrible but we’d at least feed some deer… we were mistaken. There were no places to buy the crackers to feed the deer... If anyone is going there, you have to buy crackers before the selected vendors sell out.

Everything we read said “There’s vendors everywhere and vending machines to buy them!!!” But when we showed up at 12:30, everywhere was sold out and no vending machines in sight…

Thankfully a family was on their way out and offered us a few to experience feeding the deer - which was awesome.

This was one of our favorite spots in Japan, but if you’re going, make sure to get crackers for the deer before you eat lunch!

… or at least it doesn’t have to be

For this trip from South Africa -> Europe -> Japan -> SE Asia we were able to get all 30 flights(15 each, 3 12+ hr flights) for $1,500 + about 300k points. Total. That’s about 50$ and 10k points per person per flight, not bad.

The way we did it was not as easy as everyone seems to show. We had to save those points over the past three years. Timing credit card sign ups, using cards for specific purchases. However, it paid off in the long run.

Tools like @pointme & @dailydrop saved us loads of time when it came to actually picking the flights we needed to get for the lowest point and dollar sum.

Going to hopefully share more of our process behind miles and points over the coming months but wanted to try and do this trend haha
