I think a big misconception is the thought that the best things in life are free. The best things in life aren’t free, they take effort, thought, dedication, timing, and a certain amount of luck. Friendship, Love, Trust.
These are all entities that aren’t free and this is a dedication to them.

Friends make you feel understood, not just on the surface level but amongst our deepest, most tucked away thoughts and anxieties. They make you feel accepted, connected, sane, that you share an inner most part of yourself with another individual that at times for everyone else feels alien. It doesn’t always constitute feelings of a positive connotation either, at times there are sensations of separation and longing, but what you receive in return is far greater.

Been feeling grateful of recent.
Here’s a list of things that bring me gratitude (order not necessarily accurate):

1. John Fogerty’s vocal chords
2. Friends you haven’t seen in months and even years but still haven’t lost any love for
3. Seeing toddlers learning to kick a soccer ball
4. The feeling when you first step into a hot ass sauna
5. $5 24oz pints of Narragansett
6. Friends you get to see everyday
7. Rainy days w/ an open schedule
8. Hitting a runners high during sunset on the Williamsburg bridge
9. The look on a dogs face after you ask them “Want to go for a walk”
10. The feel of salt in your hair days after having been in the ocean
11. The Isley Brothers
12. Leaving the apartment in a brand new outfit that makes you feel like the sexiest person to ever walk this earth
13. The moment a bonfire properly catches flame and you feel the same innate dopamine rush our ancestors once felt
14. Anthony Bourdain. Just everything about him.

Reflecting on the past year and what’s stood out to me the most. Moving from Minnesota to NYC has been a big change and with change comes adjustment. First off, if you want a life devoid of difficulty and challenge this place is not for you. Living here is not easy, carrying laundry and groceries a half a mile home, walking 6 miles a day in to get to all the places you want to go, and a 2 mile journey that takes you 45 mins because the only thing consistent about MTA is inconsistency. But nonetheless there’s a reason why so many people are drawn to this city. Among the sights, various cuisines, bars, live music, comedy shows, etc. out here you will never find yourself at a loss with ways to fill your schedule. You could live nine lifetimes here and never be bored a day. But among all the wonderful things about this place the aspect that I find most notable is the people.
The variety, not just in more obvious terms like ethnicity. But more specifically the variety of thought, passion, world view, artistic expression, etc. This to me is truly what makes this city unique, stimulating, and exuberant. For me it is not achievement, success, or hedonism that make the moments in life most enjoyable. But rather the experiences you have and the people you share them with. taken in New York, New York by @thomasolsonn

The amount of joy and love experienced this past weekend was unparalleled. It was of such great pleasure to celebrate people who we’ve grown with over the past decade plus.

Once again, congratulations on your everlasting love Mr. and Mrs. Mahabadi. taken in Finest Playa Mujeres, Cancun by @thomasolsonn
