Streaming now! "Children of the Fire" is the conceptual precursor to Orpheus Omega's upcoming album, exploring a universe where the gods have abandoned their creations. The first chapter of an epic sci-fi narrative asking: if humanity's call is answered, what awaits?

Give it a spin and let us know what you think!

#melodeathmonday Scar Symmetry – Symmetric In Design

By 2005, melodic death metal was already starting to move away from the sound that defined so much of the ’90s. Then @scarsymmetry came along with Symmetric In Design, an album that sounded modern and futuristic without losing the riffs and guitar work that made melodeath great in the first place.

The guitar work from @scarguitar and @jonas_kjellgren is a huge part of what makes this album so good. Technical without feeling like technical for its own sake, with catchy riffs and such unique solos all over the record. Both also contributed keyboards, which helped give the album such a sci-fi/mechanical/futuristic feel.

And then there’s Christian Älvestam. His growls are absolutely crushing, but his clean vocals are what really separated Scar Symmetry from almost everyone else at the time, and this is coming from someone who doesn’t really care for clean vocals. But the huge, soaring clean choruses are epic. I still remember being blown away when I first realized the guy singing those cleans was the SAME guy doing growls. His ability to switch between the two styles so quickly was and still is crazy.

For a debut album, Symmetric In Design sounded incredibly complete. Scar Symmetry had already found a sound that was unmistakably their own.

Standout tracks: Pretty much the entire album. Too hard to pick just a handful.

What’s your favorite track, or favorite chorus, from this one?

Only 1 day to go until release of our new single All Of Them Broken!

Heavy riffs in combination with soft melodies and a chorus of pure feeling creates the feeling of struggle, desperation but not giving up. We hope this song will mean as much for you as it does for us!
