From 1972-78, Saturday night viewers of Portland’s KATU-TV Channel 2 were treated to SINISTER CINEMA with Victor Ives at 11:30pm. A decade before Elvira, Ives hosted classic horror double features alongside fellow KEX radio personality Jimmy Hollister, injecting commercial breaks with memorably vaudevillian sketch comedy.

This October, I’ll be presenting Victor Ives’ original introductions to THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN (Monday, October 5th at 5:10pm & Thursday, October 8th at 5:10pm) and DRACULA (Thursday, October 22nd at 5:10pm) before screenings at @cinemagictheater

an encore presentation of Ives’ BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN intro will screen before FRANKENHOOKER (Friday, October 23rd at 7pm) at @clinton_street_theater

These historic clips, which I recovered via tapes from the Ives estate last summer, have been lovingly digitized, color graded, and sound edited for their first time ever on the big screen and their first time playing for Portland audiences in over forty years! Happy Halloween!
