What makes the sport of @thetacticalgames so great?
That answer could be a lot of things. In my opinion it boils down to two, which actually coincide.

1) The community
2) The arena

Over the years a lot of people have came and gone. I’ve watched the sport go through several waves of programming ushering in all types of athletes. I’ve heard it called the cardio games, and at one point a 150lb bag was “too heavy” for elite.
Some people left ….some of us are still here. The ones that’s stayed help pave the road for what you see today. They endured insane programming- 12 mile rucks, dodging bears in the mountains, donating their legs to rediculous amounts of berm climbs, dropped off in a truck and told to run back….unknown distances, hot rifle rope climbs.. the list goes on. The Wild West of the Tac games days. All while the sport was evolving and perfecting right before our eyes. As the programming changed, so did our training. We didn’t quit…we adapted and invested back into the sport.

The current progression of ttg has brought some of the worlds best athlete shooters to the arena. What we see every year at the championship is nothing short of amazing. Nothing is hidden anymore. People are utilizing dry fire programs, strength and endurance programming from professional athletes, fitness and firearms progress tracking, mini online competitions and the list goes on.

All of this is made possible because a few people cared enough to invent it, save it, and accelerate it . Tim,Jared,Nick
All while @recon_ro painted the picture of ttg for the world to see.

I love this sport. They are my kind of people. Training for it has been therapy and preparation for whatever I might have to face on the job. It keeps me humble and it keeps me growing.

To everyone I’ve lined up against or shared a conversation with along the way at these events- thank you and take care of the sport while you are here for the next athlete.

If you wore the wrong shoes for Stage 1, “Tow/Haul Mode,” you might have been slowed down on the turf sled push🐸☕️

Grabbed a quick one- doubles from the 20. Big steel. Still managed to pile up misses lol
Ran a bit this morning but needed to make sure my hamstrings still worked.

This place is a one stop shop for PT with Misty @functionalmassagellc under the same roof.

Standard- that’s a word that’s been thrown around a lot lately. Especially in LE

In my profession, unfortunately I’ve always viewed it as the minimum required metric to which you are allowed by the state to serve your community…and it’s only asked of you one time at the beginning of your career.

Then there are those people that hold a different “standard.” The one that really can’t be written out. I work with some of them. I’ve competed against them. The ones who seek discomfort as a means to improve their abilities. They are the ones you want responding when you call.

For me, the standard, is waking up every day and showing up. Of course, to be an asset for my family and community. But also for me, and the dude I wanted to be when I hired on 19 years ago.

I still want the smoke…all of it. And the day I can’t absorb the damage it takes to be #383 anymore…I’ll bounce.
I’ve never been a champion at anything. I’ve been a very average officer, investigator, Swat guy…but I consider it a blessing. I think it’s been HIS gift to me because I’m in constant pursuit of something I can never really obtain. It’s made me just good enough to be in the conversation. That kind of journey keeps you hungry and humble.

If you are just starting out in this profession, you don’t have to be the best. You just have to be willing, and keep showing up…beyond the minimum standard.
Then one day you will slow down for a second and realize whatever “standard” they threw at you as a rookie is so far in your rear view mirror you can hardly see it.

Stay the course and maybe get a little disgusted with yourself on occasion. Build those up around you, and hold a pace that hurts enough that it forces growth.
And always thank/remember the ones that invested in you.
