I used to walk in shadows I carved for myself,
My feet dragging through dirt I called destiny,
My ears deaf to whispers of truth,
And my heart chained to the rhythm of my own pride.

I told myself I was the architect,
But my walls were crumbling.
I built towers of my own ambition,
Only to watch them collapse under the weight of my sin.

But then, I saw Him
Not in the booming voice of thunder,
But in the quiet ache of my soul,
In the stillness where my chaos screamed loudest.

He hung there, arms stretched wide,
Thorns digging deep into flesh that bore no guilt,
Blood dripping for wounds that weren’t His own.
I looked at Him and saw myself:
Every failure, every selfish thought,
Every time I turned away from what was holy.

How could I not have heard Him?
How could I drown His voice in the noise of my own ego,
When He was always there,
Calling me out of my darkness into His light?

I reflect now, daily, on the pain He endured

And I feel the weight of my own,
Not as a punishment, but as a call to lay it down.

So I kneel.
Not in defeat, but in surrender.
I give up the reins I held so tightly,
I trade my vision for His.

I listen now,
Not just with my ears but with my spirit,
To the voice that asks me to trust,
To follow, to be still, and to know.

His wounds tell me I’m forgiven.
His love tells me I’m free.
And as I surrender,
I find that I’m no longer bound
I am finally alive,
Finally His.
