A musician must make music, a writer must write, a dancer must dance.

It’s important to make time for the things you enjoy. Not everything has to make money, be productive, or turn into a career. Sometimes, it’s okay to do things simply because you love doing them.

Life gets busy, but don’t get so caught up in your responsibilities that you forget to enjoy life outside of them.

What’s something you love doing that you haven’t done in a while? 👇 by @thoughtswityaya

Funny enough I’ve only really heard these statements from my agitated patients, although growing up, I don’t remember seeing many Black men in nursing.

Somewhere along the way, people decided that nursing wasn’t masculine enough and that men should choose something else.

I never believed that.

Becoming a psychiatric nurse showed me that strength isn’t just physical. Sometimes it’s sitting with someone on the worst day of their life. It’s staying calm in chaos. It’s listening without judgment. It’s protecting people when they’re at their most vulnerable.

I started this page because of how important it is for mental health to be understood, not feared. I want to break down conditions people misunderstand, have conversations that most people avoid, and make psychology easy enough that anyone can learn from it.

But this page is bigger than mental health.

I want YOUNG BLACK MEN to see someone who looks like them in healthcare, talking about emotions, discipline, fitness, purpose, confidence, and building a meaningful life. What I’ve come to learn is that representation isn’t about being the only one it’s about making it easier for the next person to believe they belong too.

If one young man watches these videos and decides to ask for help, pursue nursing, or simply take his mental health seriously… this page has already done its job.

We’re just getting started.
