Using a lighter to smooth the threaded edge of a watch strap is a common technique for finishing and sealing the ends of the thread. When a leather watch strap is sewn, the thread often extends slightly beyond the surface of the strap. This can leave a rough or frayed edge. Applying a small flame to the thread serves a few key purposes:
1. Seals the thread
2. Smooths the edges
3. Prevents fraying

Order came on time, asked a question on whether the strap will be compatible with th deployment clasp and Sarah answered quickly, so customer service is awesome. Order came on time in a nice branded bag. Strap fits perfectly, looks very nice, not showy and not muted, just right. Will definitely buy from Threaded again!
