@essencefest Give Thanks for creating space for Threads of Us to screen to our first international audience in New Orleans on the 250th anniversary of the USA’s Independence!

As storytellers, we have the honour of carrying knowledge, culture, memory and hope for generations through our work, whatever form it lives in.

Set against the back drop of Jamaica’s 63rd Independence, an intimate love story came to life while showing the social injustice that often happens with young black men and dreams of making it from a seamstress to a fashion designer. This story drove home the narrative that we are not our circumstances and a dream delayed does not mean denied!
To everyone who worked on this film, we appreciate the hard work and the sacrifices. We set out to tell a culturally nuanced story that captured the essence of Jamaica and we are glad that has resonated with audiences. Thanks to the @caribbeanfilmawards it is an honor for Threads of Us to be awarded the Caribbean Heritage Film Award for 2026!
