Today, we are thrilled to unveil our complete weekend public programming lineup across 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟕–𝟏𝟖 and 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟒–𝟐𝟓.

Bringing together visual artists from around the globe, these sessions offer an intimate look into photobook publishing, darkroom & alternative methodologies, conceptual frameworks, and tactile print culture.

🚨 The wait is finally over: 𝐄𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 is officially happening from October 17–27!

Guided by our festival theme, TRIPLICITIES, these 11 days will highlight meaningful photography through tactile publications, immersive exhibitions, and engaging dialogues.

We will also proudly showcase the 𝑬𝒑𝒉𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒓𝒆 Photobook Grant selections and launch our latest Photo Journal.

This year, we are moving from the Southwest to the Northeast of Tokyo in Taito City.

SPECTRAL LANDSCAPES - EXHIBITION ARCHIVE

September 11–13, 2026

In our conversation with Suzanne, we kept returning to a question: when does technology help us enter an artwork, and when does it get in the way?

Suzanne works with photography, light, digital editing, and VR, yet she is deeply critical of technological spectacle. In Spectral Landscapes, the technology remained quiet. A photograph curved from the wall onto the floor. Fireflies moved between a real moment and a constructed image. VR did not transport us elsewhere, but subtly changed the room already around us.

Each of the three floors held one work. Together, they formed a slow journey through real places, altered images, and the uncertain boundary between seeing a landscape and feeling ourselves inside it.

スザンヌとの対話のなかで、私たちは何度も一つの問いに立ち返りました。テクノロジーは、いつ作品の中へ入る手助けとなり、いつ作品との間を隔てるものになるのでしょうか。

スザンヌは写真、光、デジタル編集、VRを用いながら、テクノロジーによるスペクタクルには批判的な視点を持っています。『Spectral Landscapes』では、テクノロジーは静かに背景にとどまっていました。写真は壁から床へと緩やかに広がり、蛍の光は、実際の瞬間とつくられたイメージのあいだを漂います。VRは私たちを別世界へ運ぶのではなく、すでにそこにある空間の見え方をわずかに変えていました。

3つのフロアには、それぞれ1点の作品だけが置かれました。それらは、実在する場所、変容したイメージ、そして風景を見ることと、その内側にいると感じることの曖昧な境界をめぐる、ゆっくりとした旅を形づくっていました。 taken in Three Space Tokyo by @threespacetokyo

BIRTHDAY STORIES
an exhibition by Negar Kaghazchi

Negar Kaghazchi is an Iranian contemporary artist based in Japan whose practice moves between painting, installation, and interactive design. Her work engages with perception, memory, and everyday experience through a range of visual and spatial forms. Kaghazchi holds a Ph.D. in New Media Art and Interaction Design from the University of Electro-Communications, an MFA in Graphic Design and a BFA in Painting from the University of Tehran, and currently teaches at Tama Art University in Tokyo.

Her exhibition BIRTHDAY STORIES explores birthdays as encounters with time, memory, repetition, and the rituals through which we care for ourselves and one another. Memory returns in fragments—a color, a texture, a smell, a rhythm—and remembering becomes an act of remaking and becoming.

Negar Kaghazchi 個展

Negar Kaghazchiは、日本を拠点に活動するイラン出身の現代アーティストです。絵画、インスタレーション、インタラクティブ・デザインを横断しながら、知覚、記憶、日常の経験をさまざまな視覚的・空間的表現を通して探求しています。東京電機通信大学にてニューメディアアートおよびインタラクションデザインの博士号、テヘラン大学にてグラフィックデザインの修士号および絵画の学士号を取得。現在は東京の多摩美術大学で教鞭をとっています。

個展 BIRTHDAY STORIES では、誕生日を時間と向き合う瞬間として捉え、記憶、反復、そして自分自身や他者を思いやるために繰り返す儀式について探求します。記憶は色、質感、匂い、リズムといった断片として戻り、思い出すことは、つくり直し、成っていくことでもあります。

Uprooting 根は移ろいゆく

As part of Uprooting_根は移ろいゆく, join us for an open conversation with all four exhibiting artists — Chan Sin Yi, Jiayin Lin, Liu Yanzi, and Ronnie Karfiol.

Each artist arrived at this show carrying a different experience of being uprooted: a grandmother's migration held in a single plant, a language that ferments and shifts as it moves between environments, a speculative journey toward a new planetary "home," and a personal loss traced through the changing sky. On their own, these are four separate stories. Brought together, they start to ask a shared question — what remains of "root" once you've left the ground you grew up in?

This talk won't explain the works to you. It's a space for the artists to speak with each other, and with you, about the process, the material choices, and the parts of the work that don't fit neatly into a wall text.

「Uprooting_根は移ろいゆく」展の関連企画として、出展作家4名を迎えたオープンな対話の場を開催します。

4名のアーティストは、それぞれ異なる「根を離れる」経験を携えてこの展覧会にたどり着きました。祖母の移住の記憶を宿す一本の植物、環境のあいだを移動しながら発酵し変化していく言語、惑星規模の新たな「家」へと向かう思索的な旅、そして移ろう空の記録に刻まれた個人的な喪失。それぞれは独立した物語でありながら、並べて見たとき、ひとつの問いを共有し始めます──育った土地を離れたあと、「根」には何が残るのか。

このトークは作品を「解説」するものではありません。制作プロセスや素材選択、そしてキャプションには収まりきらない部分について、アーティスト同士、そして観客とともに語り合う場です。
