Dolly Parton was my first kiss. I was 5 years old.

Louise picked me up from North Hollywood Christian School shortly after morning prayers. I was certain I was in trouble again for saying the F word on the playground (my mouth was washed out with soap a few weeks before).

We got to Louise's office at Universal Studios and I was handed off to her colleague, Stephanie who drove me all the way to the backlot. She pointed to a trailer to knock on. Out came Dolly in the outfit above. She was shooting the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and Lou arranged a meeting. I recited my favorite lines from 9 to 5, I had the film memorized by then. Dolly knelt down in this gown, signed a promo and gave me a hug. Then I became the straightest I would ever be in this lifetime and went for her lips without consent or invitation. I was all bro and determined to kiss this otherworldly angel. Luckily, she obliged and smooched right back.

All of us will remember the way this prolific artist maneuvered through this world with the most open mind and heart possible which allowed all of us-- every single one of us-- to love her. A once-in-a-millennia Angel. Rest in eternal sunshine, Dolly. #DOLLYPARTON by @thrillrideent
