I remember one day putting my hair on the ironing board trying to “press” my hair.
I couldn’t even dream of allowing someone at 20 to put relaxer in their hair. All those chemicals sitting in your scalp so close to your brain! Back then it was normal.
I was so embarrassed of my hair! I am so glad we are in a different era now, and so glad to be in my 50’s with a full head of hair.

I wouldn’t want it any other way!

My hair would always stop at a certain length. Foolishly I actually thought this was the longest that it could grow. When my hormones changed around my late 40’s my hair became thinner and would fall out in clumps from the root they tried to tell me that this was normal aging! 🤯

These are the things that actually works for me and I still use them today ⤵️

Pumpkin seed— helps block DHT, the hormone linked to hair thinning

Linseed/flaxseed— omega-3s that support scalp health, added to my morning smoothie

Rosemary— boosts circulation to the follicles, natural alternative to minoxidil

Sea moss— packed with minerals your hair needs to actually grow, not just survive

Vitamin Ddeficiency is linked to hair thinning, and most of us don’t get enough

If nobody told you hormones could hit your hair this hard in perimenopause — now you know. 🤎

Save 📌this so it doesn’t get lost in the sauce.

What they don’t warn you about ‼️
For years my hair would only grow to a certain length and although it was shoulder length I simply thought that was the longest it could grow. 🤯
It would break and fallout constantly!

Once my hormones changed my hair became the thinnest and weakest it had EVER been and to add insult it began falling out FROM THE ROOTS! Nobody warned me this would happen.
Foolishly, I Thought it was aging! 🛑
These are the things that actually worked and added at least 6inches to my hair along with so much fullness and thickness ✅

1. seamoss. This was a game changer! My body clearly was lacking minerals. Almost immediately the breakage stopped!

2.vitamin D supplements. Literally everyone is vitamin D deficient. It actually helps with hair growth!
Ever noticed your hair grows more in summer? ☀️

3. Moringa. I put it in smoothies and even in my hair

4.Rosemary. I put this in all my foods and in my hair as a tea wash. DM if you want more info

5. I alway use a super wide tooth comb.
Stop ripping hair out from the root. I only brush when my hair has been detangled!

Comment” Hair” for my free hair growth guide and how to do this. It won’t send unless you are following.

I honestly thought that was as long and full as it could grow.

Then my hormones changed between my 30’s & 40s. It got thinner and started falling out in clumps, from the root. I was told it was “normal aging.” 🤯 and had no ideas it was peri or menopause until it was too late. There was no way I was just going to let it happen.

So I went back to what I was raised on: Caribbean herbs and nutrition. Superfoods for the hair. ⤵️

🌱 Rosemary: boosts circulation to the follicles
🌱 Moringa: vitamins and minerals your scalp needs
🌱 Hibiscus: strengthens and conditions
🌱 Fenugreek: protein and iron, traditionally used for thicker hair
Vitamin D:one of the most documented deficiencies that cause breakage and stunt hair growth. Most of us are vitamin D deficient and melanated skin absorb way less than other people. Get your levels checked!

Now I infuse them into my own oil, massage it in three times a week, and this is the result 🤎

3. Moringa. Vitamins A, C and iron in one green scoop.
4. Cloves. Boost scalp circulation. Warmth where the growth starts.

For years I kept trying random products, chasing length, and nothing stuck. Once my hormones started shifting, the breakage got so bad at one point I thought that was it. But I couldn’t give up. I turned to what I was raised with.
Herbs!

These are the things that actually worked — no heat, no harsh chemicals, just what I had in my kitchen ✅

	1.	Flaxseed gel — made from scratch, just seeds and water. Holds curl definition with zero crunch, and it’s packed with omega-3s that feed the scalp. Game changer for wash-and-go days.
	2.	Rosemary + hibiscus drink — I make this as a refreshing infusion, not just a hair rinse. Rosemary boosts circulation so more nutrients reach the root, hibiscus is loaded with vitamin C and antioxidants — good for hair AND immunity.
 3. Patience — everyone’s journey looks different. Consistency beats chasing the next “miracle” product.

When my hormones changed and made my hair started falling out in clumps leaving me with thin strands My doctor’s only fix? A steroid injection straight into my scalp. Yeah, no.

So I turned to what I knew — nature.

🌱 Pumpkin seeds — packed with zinc to block the hormone that shrinks your follicles
🌱 Flaxseed gel — omega-3s that feed the scalp and lock in moisture
🌱 Rosemary — boosts circulation so more blood (and nutrients) reach the root
🌱 Cloves — rich in eugenol, helps stimulate growth and strengthen strands

I couldn’t believe what happened when I did heatless curls with flexi gel👀

I made my own flaxseed gel from scratch and used it to set my curls — no heat, no harsh chemicals, just seeds and water. 🌿
The result was amazing. No hours wasted diffusing in my hair just wash and go! 💕

Here’s why I’m obsessed:
✨ Holds curl definition without the crunch
✨ Packed with omega-3s + vitamin E for scalp health
✨ Pulls in moisture = less frizz
✨ Gentle slip = less breakage when detangling
✨ Zero alcohol, sulfates, or synthetic junk

Full “how I made the gel” video dropping tomorrow — save this for wash day! 💧

I went to the gym every day for a week and used zero heat on my hair❌♨️

Fun fact; heat makes you lose the length you already grew.
Here’s what nobody tells you. 😱
I do high impact 🏋🏾‍♀️👟weight classes daily, so I’m always sweating and leaving with frizzy hair
On a whim, I put it in two braids, first time since I was a kid 🤣. It actually changed everything. No hair dryer, no hair straighter, no manipulation.
A week later, I took them out and couldn’t believe the results. My hair had been washed prior to the braids so my hair was not smelly.
The following day I put it in a ponytail and got an extra day out of it

So next time you go to the gym, maybe try putting it in two braids.

My Go-To Green Juice that has helped with fall out, thickness and length 🍊🌿

📌Make sure to save and share it with someone who needs it 🔖

Spinach – High in iron, which stops hair from becoming brittle and breaking, helping you build stronger, healthier hair from the inside out. It’s also packed with vitamins A and C to support scalp health.

Aloe Vera –deeply hydrates hair and scalp from within, bonus -it helps with skin glow up.

Flaxseed – Rich in omega-3s that nourish your hair follicles and add shine, while also supporting hormone balance —also loaded with essential fatty omegas needed for hair growth!

Oranges🍊 – Loaded with vitamin C, which helps your body actually absorb all that iron from the spinach. High in vitamin C to support scalp and hair growth. They also give the juice a natural sweetness and a boost of immune support.

Would you drink your hair care?

Make sure to Follow For More Tips✨

I’ve been asked so many times how my hair grows so fast and stays this long.💕 Here’s my routine 👇
✨
✨
🔥 Protective Styles + Minimal Heat
For me protective is my natural curly hair. Yes, curly hair is a protective style. No pulling or tugging. No tight braids 😱Zero heat ♨️and lots of leave in conditioners that help moisturise my hair. I air dry my curls and spritz daily with rosemary water to refresh curls.

🥤 Nutrition — I Drink My Hair Care People think hair growth is only about what you put ON your hair. But have you ever tried growing a plant in depleted soil? It struggles. Same with your hair. A couple times a week I make a hair-growth smoothie:
* Flaxseeds — works better from the inside just add 2 tablespoons to smoothies. Can also be added to yogurt, oatmeal and cereals. (Not the whole seeds. This is the powder looking one)
* Hempseeds — nourishes and strengthens the hair shaft.
* Sea moss — loaded with iron, stops brittle hair. Iodine and a ton of other minerals too.
* Ashwagandha — keeps me calm AND lowers cortisol, the stress hormone that also contributes to hair loss.
* Coconut water — hydrates and replenishes electrolytes.
* Dates or banana — natural sweetness, plus nutrients that support healthy strands.
My hair stopped shedding after a few months of doing this consistently🙌🏾🙌🏾

💧 Moisture I oil my scalp and massage it regularly — moisture and circulation go hand in hand. Dry hair breaks, and a lot of “my hair won’t grow” is really “my hair keeps breaking off.”

⏳ Patience + Consistency Everyone’s hair journey looks different. Stay consistent, trust the process — results come with time.

Let me know in the comments. Have you ever tried smoothies for hair growth?
Type Yes or no
