Day 14 - Black and white. Understandably, famous tourist spots like St Paul’s cathedral are a magnet for hoards of people. Not so good for when you want to take a photograph! I’ve got around this by applying a motion blur and rubbing back in the parts of interest. To me this is much more appealing than the original. “Refuge in the mist” The Tower of Refuge is situated on Conister Rock, a partially submerged reef off the beach of Douglas, Isle of Man. These rocks were treacherous to shipping and, after several rescues of sailors stranded there, it was decided to build the tower as a place of refuge for sailors in need until they could be rescued. Built in 1832 the rock and structure were presented to the National Institution for the Preservation of Life from Shipwreck which subsequently became the National Lifeboat Institution. Day 29 -Smile. This man didn’t seem to mind having an angry Arctic Tern on his head! #rujune2026potd_day29 #yes_globe #raw_allnature_ The Arctic Terns were nesting very close to the walkway a couple of weeks ago on Inner Farne and, being very protective parents, they were attacking the heads of people walking by. It was good advice to wear a hat! by @through_jans_lens

“Line from a song” - You’ve got a friend written by Carole King and also sung by James Taylor- one of my favourite songs. Another photo from my lovely trip to Northumberland earlier this month, this is the “Couple” art installation in the little seaside village of NewBiggin-by-the-sea. Standing at 12 metres high and 300 metres offshore on the breakwater, this sculpture by Sean Henry was installed in 2007 and is an impressive sight to see.
