The legendary STEVIE WONDER came and ate at Throwdown Soulfood!! 🔥🔥🔥

To have someone so legendary walk through the doors of MY restaurant and enjoy food from MY kitchen… WOW. 🥹🙏🏾 This is one of those moments I’ll never forget.

From selling plates, doing pop-ups, catering, and working toward this restaurant… to standing here today welcoming Stevie Wonder into Throwdown Soulfood. GOD IS SO GOOD! 🙌🏾❤️

We closed out Black Business Month the best way I know how: supporting a Black-owned business. ❤️🖤💚

Yesterday, I had the chance to visit @throwdownsoulfood, a newly opened restaurant in Long Beach, alongside one of my favorite community builders, my friend Marcus Tyson.

And listen… we tried just about everything we could get our hands on. 😂 The food was GOOD. The kind of good where you’re already discussing what you’re ordering the next time before you’ve finished the first meal.

But as a business builder, I found myself paying attention to something beyond the food.
The line never stopped.

Every time we thought it was finally dying down, another wave of customers walked through the door.

And through it all, the owner was right there…working, talking with customers, answering questions about the menu, explaining what was available and what had already sold out, and making sure people were taken care of.
I love seeing that.

Because Black Business Month isn’t just about celebrating entrepreneurship for 31 days. It’s about showing up, spending with our businesses, telling people when we find a good one, and helping create the kind of community support that keeps those doors open for years to come.

Congratulations to Rasheda and the team at Throwdown Soulfood. The food brought us in, but seeing a steady stream of community support made the experience even sweeter.

We look forward to watching this business build a long history in the community!
And yes... we’ll definitely be back. 😂
