Merry Christmas everyone ✨ Sharing our quiet moment from the mountains of Bali. May your days be filled with space, calm, and peace.

As I write this, Brad is in Florida with family, I’m in Hanoi with mine, and little Pooh man is off snowboarding in Canada. Life has somehow always kept us moving.

Before parting our ways, we escaped Ubud to Munduk, full days chasing waterfalls, gazing at the forest, jumping in and out jacuzzi together (made extra work for the housekeeper). We had found a little spot with gorgeous tree house floating in the cloud 🤍

📍Location: (literally only 1 hour on the motorbike from Ubud)

The next island in Indonesia that truly has it all 🧡

Most people visit Lombok for Gili T, but there’s so much more beyond. Think white sandbars, hidden islands, dramatic cliffs, waterfalls, remote beaches, and the majestic Mount Rinjani 🌋

We spent almost a month exploring 7 different towns and small islands around Lombok. Every region felt completely different and here are our favourites:

- Gili Asahan & the Secret Gilis: secluded beaches and unforgettable sunsets overlooking Bali with Mount Agung on the horizon.

- Sembelie: True quiet hidden islands, brilliant sandbars, and unreal turquoise water

- Awang Bay: Dramatic coastal cliffs, secluded beaches, and incredible viewpoints

- Senaru & Sembalun: Waterfalls, mountain villages, and breathtaking views of Mount Rinjani.

🛵 Getting around: We rented a self-drive car because we were traveling with our 8 year old, gear, and what felt like an entire suitcase of toys and books. It worked well for us, but if you’re traveling light and are like us who like to venture into the unknowns, I’d choose a scooter. Many of Lombok’s best beaches and viewpoints are reached via narrow, steep, and very bumpy roads where a scooter is much easier to manage.

Note that in the east and south east where it’s more remote, it’s difficult to find a motorbike so rent one while you’re still in big towns like Mataram or Kuta.

This corner of Lombok is so remote that we had no idea what to expect. Google map wasn’t so much of use. But that’s exactly what made it so special.

I have to admit: this wasn’t my most relaxing drone flight. Sitting in the car, watching it fly while we passed along a narrow cliffside road.

But I’m so glad we kept an open mind, because Lombok surprised us once again with landscapes unlike anywhere else I’ve seen in Asia.

Can you believe this is Lombok?
When I thought of Lombok, I used to picture Mount Rinjani or Kuta.

But this side of the island surprised me the most: hidden sandbars, winding mangrove channels, pink sand beaches, reefs you can spot from the sky, and water that barely looks real.

Lombok deserves so much more attention than it gets.

Follow for more off the beaten path adventures 🤍

Pink sand beach just like a swimming pool

Hidden mangrove channels

A place completely cut off from the world

Tiny island just 20 minutes offshore

Still underrated. by @thu.tides

Raja Ampat is famous for its landscapes, but what stayed with me most was how alive everything felt.

🪸 From remote beaches and emerald lagoons to healthy reefs and wild dolphins, these are a few moments that made the trip unforgettable.

If you’re planning a visit, give yourself time beyond the viewpoints. Some of the best experiences happen out on the water and beneath the surface. We spent 6 weeks in total and still felt like we could have done more!

📍 Location in photos:
- Yapap Lagoon
- Warakaraket Beach
- Famo Dive Site
- Lenmakana Jelly Fish Lake
- No name lagoon right next to Yapap Lagoon

I never thought I’d cry over a photoshoot with horses.

Yesterday happened to be one of the rare Triple Horse Days: a Horse Day in a Horse Month during a Horse Year (Yes, the animal year zodiac sign is a huge thing in our Asian culture). By pure coincidence, I spent the day on this little island surrounded by these beautiful creatures.

But two weeks ago, I wasn’t even sure we’d make it here.

Instead, we were sitting in a hospital.

Brad injured his back so badly that he couldn’t walk. While waiting for his MRI results, we cancelled every booking we’d made. I remember crying harder than I had in years, thinking, what if he never walks properly again?

Thankfully, we were incredibly lucky. Two weeks later, we’re here.

People often tell me how lucky we are to live the life we do and travel freely.

The truth is, this life has never been free from fear. It’s taken years of planning, sacrifices, uncertainty, and choosing this path over and over again.

These past two weeks reminded me that none of it matters without the mental and physical ability to keep choosing it.

So we’ll be back, running from island to island. And more importantly, getting back to yoga, meditation, taking better care of ourselves, and of each other.

Still learning. Still trying. And incredibly grateful that we get to keep going. 🤍

Location below ⤵️

Last year, we were obsessed with finding the most vibrant house reefs. This year, it was the beaches that stole the show as we ventured into the more remote corners of Raja Ampat.

Beyond the powdery white sand, many of these beaches on the south are framed by towering limestone cliffs.
On the back of Fam, we found many beaches and all were different. Some were white pebble like in the Mediterranean. But with warm water and impossibly clear visibility.
We watched baby sharks chasing baitfish right next to where we swam, dolphins leaping in the distance, and found stretches of coast so remote it felt like we had reached the edge of the world.

There were days that we had no exact destination, we hopped on the boat and told the captain to take us anywhere within 2 hours from where we lived. If it looks interesting, we stopped. This way we felt like we actually saw Raja Ampat in its true beauty.

📍 Locations below but many also doesn’t exist on the map:
Olobi
Yef Nabi Kecil
Pantai Warakaraket
Yapap Lagoon
Mios Besar
Fam
Pantai Banos
Kalig Ranger Station

The feeling of walking through a fairy tale ✨

Hidden in the middle of a small town in East Java, stands a forest of giant rain trees, they were planted in the 1800s, stood through more than a century of change.

Beyond a life time ago, someone planted these trees and never lived to see them become magic.

If we plant today, a hundred years from now our children will inherit a forest.
If we only take, what will be left for them?
