Ernesto died naturally next to me Sunday morning, 3 hrs before Compassionate Care was due to euthanize him. It was heartbreaking and crazy to witness his transition but also precious and powerful like our bond. The timing was cosmic as I moved out of the house we lived in together the next day and he passed at the doorway in our bedroom. Buried him in the garden with orange and purple dahlias and burned his blanket and toys with cedar that evening. Best companion I ever had.🪽🤍 by @thundermaze

I bought a return ticket home after the war started with the news of limited oil reserves in the countries I planned to travel. I was having mixed feeling about taking up space and using resources for my leisure and supporting their economy by continuing on. I’m so glad I decided to venture solo to Angkor Wat and Siem Reap before heading home. I coincidentally booked a tuk-tuk sunrise tour within the days of the spring equinox where the sun rose above the central tower and had great company and fun with my driver Geko. The first day I rented a scooter and explored several other temples myself and the other days hired Geko. Saw 8 temples, a dinner show and Phare, the Cambodian circus, and plenty of swims to cool off in the afternoon. I really like Cambodians and wish to return someday to continue on traveling in the area. If you’ve ever considered going, definitely do it and have plenty of recommendations if you’d like. by @thundermaze

Ventured to Cat Ba Island and got lucky to book an overnight cruise to Lan Ha Bay. We got to kayak through caves, swim at private beaches and try squid fishing at night. Other time on the island we explored in scooters and went hiking in the national park to find a snack picnic with a couple locals and other travelers. We tried to avoid the main area in town which is being heavily developed with tons of construction. Back to Hanoi for a delightful puppet show and bid farewell to my pals as I was going to spend my last week traveling solo. by @thundermaze

Ninh Binh exceeded all my expectations. Anne and I explored the outskirts on scooters. Scrambling and straddling a dragon at the top a hike was fun and then in shock with the colossal and intricate details of the pagodas and ancient temples in caves. Driving back to town, I was in complete awe, as it was the prettiest drive I’ve ever been on and shortly after that thought, Anne pulled over stating the exact thing. We weren’t quite ready to leave this place but headed to Hanoi to meet up with Charlie. Highlight was listening to live jazz outside of the club while drinking questionable liquor out of a jug with a security guard. Also the salt coffee and bun cha was delicious. Phong Nha ~ exploring caves by boat, steep hikes, and by moto! The area was stunning and loved driving a scooter here. I also had the best dish of my life! Not shown: said eggplant, the overnight bus thrills, the creepy little leeches while attempting to explore an off the beaten path cave. by @thundermaze

Sturgill Simpson at Red Rocks with my gals & Willie for Kellie’s birthday was phenomenal 🤯🤩🌩️! His first note was after crack of lighting and rolling of thunder was incredible and only continued to get better. Wow, truly a special celebration with ladies I’ve loved and admired for years. And icing on cake was I got to see my longest traveling buddy Quinn and his wife Jenny and their daughter! taken in Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre by @thundermaze

Work, play, and ponies in Central Oregon last week! Was graced with great weather, a solid crew, and charming locals for a successful production. Stayed the wknd to catch up my friend Alie and her pony posse. Then saw TV on the Radio and LCD Soundsystem 🤯 put on an epic show! Made some friends and had a blast! Special trip and invitation to the Quinault Rez. Canoe races, fresh fry bread, foraging the tiniest wild strawberries, beach walks to mermaid coves, hunting for agates, raging fires, dazzling fireworks all hours of the day and night, and epic moon rises and sets. The most unique and special place I’ve slept in my van that I will day dream about for eternity.
