Got a few days at one of my happy places.
Great home grown food.
Showers under the moonlight.
Falling asleep in hammocks.
No cell reception (for the most part)
Warm hospitality.
Surrounded by nature.
Undisturbed reading....

I've been missing the mountains this year and I'm finally hear in the Golden Valley of Bogawanthalawa, taking in the saturated greens and blues. It was a beautiful clear morning and Haritha Kanda in the distance was reflecting the sunlight as if it had patches of snow. Such joy!

Even though I have seen and even driven under the Sambodhi Chaitya in Colombo umpteen times, I never considered going to see it, until now. Built in the 1950s, eleven stories up is a hollow stupa that offers panoramic views of Colombo. This temple in the sky unfolds visuals of old colonial Colombo being casually erased to make way for new development.

If anyone is considering visiting, please do. Is it a great temple? Not really, but it is definitely one of a kind. Don't let the eleven stories stop you because the staircase is wonderfully designed for an easy climb.

Negombo 3 : Playing at the temple. Being out on the road from 6 am to 6 pm, it was such a pleasure to watch life unfold in Negombo. Fish markets bustling, kids going to school, people sitting in prayer, dogs dancing around us. Seeing Negombo beyond the tourist attraction.

Negombo 2 : Quiet canals. A serene boatride through th hamilton canal and Mahaoya with a lovely gentleman named Chooty, showcased the quiet beauty of Negomb as we made our way through mangroves, arching coconut trees, rickety bridges and abandoned tile factories while hum backed cows watched us drift by, many a bird whizzed in and out in front of us and water monitors posed for us.
