Our last conversation this month is with Thyme Studio — owned by Kwan, Nas, and Off. When Nas couldn’t find a bridal bouquet for her civil ceremony, Kwan offered to make her one and the rest is history 💐 Both from Thailand, there is a lot of Asian influence in their arrangements, but their main goal is to make florals accessible for everyone.

Weddings that don’t follow all the usual wedding rules have a very special place in my heart.

Emma + Neil’s was exactly that.

A ceremony at Spadina House. Bubbly and hanging out in the gardens. Then under a little white tent, Sugo put on the spread of ALL spreads. Red and white checkered tablecloths, incredible Italian food and time to actually sit, eat and be together.

Once everyone was sufficiently stuffed, we ventured over to Burdock for cocktails, brews, cake and another wave of wonderful humans who love these two.

Mingling. Speeches. Dancing. So much celebration.

Weddings don’t have to be stressful or complicated.

Gather your favourite people. Eat really good food. Take fun photos. Drink something delicious. Dance. Celebrate.

Build a day around the things that actually feel like YOU.

The kind of day you look back on and think, “Ohhhh, that was GOOD.”

And this one had another special layer for me.

Neil is the brother of one of my past brides, Meghan, who married John in Muskoka in 2018. Their wedding was my second one back after having Oscar, only six weeks postpartum, and their trust and kindness meant so much to me.

So to see them again, now with their sweet girls, and know that their experience all those years ago helped bring me to Emma + Neil’s day was pretty damn special.

I’ve had a handful of siblings from past weddings hire me, and it’s never lost on me. In a city filled with so many talented photographers, being invited back into a family for another chapter is such an honour.

These slightly alternative, throw-out-the-rulebook, fill-the-day-with-good-people-and-good-food kinds of weddings?

They light my photography heart right up. by @thymestudio
