Reflection post kinda lengthy🧑🏾‍🩰

Lately I’ve been thinking about how beautiful it is to outgrow something you once prayed for….

I’m learning that one of the greatest things you can do for yourself is give yourself permission to try new things, stay curious, and follow an interest for a season. You can learn from it, love parts of it, outgrow other parts, and eventually recognize when it has given you everything it was meant to give you.

There’s so much pressure to choose a direction and stay there simply because you’ve already given it so much time, but I’ve learned not to let that belief keep me in places I’ve outgrown.

One of the things I love about being in my 20s is having the freedom to explore without needing every decision to make sense to everyone else. I’ve learned to live in the present while taking mental notes of the people I meet, how they treat me, the places I go, the things that excite me, the things that no longer do, and the little moments that make me realize it’s time to pivot.

I’ve made memories, built friendships with people I never would’ve met otherwise, laughed, cried along the way, learned what it feels like to be a minority in certain spaces, and learned how to take up space while leaving an impact. ( Nuh seh nuttin pon di creek)

Somewhere along the way I realized that changing course doesn’t mean you failed at the original plan. Sometimes it means you listened closely enough to yourself to know when it was time to move differently.

Pivoting will always be one of my greatest strengths. I’m not afraid of a new direction when I know it’s leading me closer to myself. Life is meant to be lived fully and experiences are meant to become part of your story, not your entire story.

So I’m leaving this chapter with a lot of gratitude, a lot of memories, and an even clearer sense of what I want next.
