Be part of history through #LIPAF250: The Liberty Trail, a special edition of the Long Island Public Arts Festival celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

This summer, Heckscher Park in Huntington, NY will transform into a living gallery exploring the meaning of LIBERTY through monumental public art installations.

🗽 TWO OPEN CALL CATEGORIES:
🔠 The Alphabet of Freedom: Narrative typography & iconic imagery
🎨 Perspectives on Liberty: Heritage, unity & the unfinished revolution

📍 Huntington, New York
📅 Exhibition: July 1 – August 31, 2026
💵 Entry Fee: $20 (up to 3 submissions)
⏰ Application Deadline: June 7, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST

History was made in Huntington last night. ❤️‍🔥

We gathered at The Agency to honor the legacy of Jupiter Hammon—Huntington’s own and the father of African American literature. From the soul-stirring spoken word by @elee.james , @onlykeyswill__ and @my_crumbled_thoughts , to the incredible flavors from @tashanaskitchen , the energy for #huntingtonartweek was unmatched. 🕊️📜

We aren’t just celebrating history; we’re building it. Help us establish the first Huntington African American Museum in Halesite. Every donation brings this permanent home for our culture closer to reality. 🏛️

Still basking in the glow of last night's incredible artist talk! 🎨✨
Thank you to Nicole Smythe-Johnson (Assistant Professor of Art History & African American & Black Diaspora Studies at Boston University) and Rachel Passannante (Assistant Director + Collections Manager) for such stimulating conversation - we dove deep into process and the Jamaican worldview, exploring what it means to identify a Jamaican diaspora.

While the show mashes up moments and places from the life of an immigrant, it’s not Andrae’s immigration story that refutes the Trumpian world view. It’s the breadth of his imagination.
