It’s fascinating watching the leaf cutter #bees busy making their hatching chambers in and around the bushes I have on my balcony. I couldn’t identify this weird creature at first. I had to look it up. I’ve read that they are very docile, stinging very rarely, and are fantastic #pollinators so I’m going to let them get on with their labours in peace. Hopefully, my little “#hatchery” will help the #environment, and my garden, even if only in a microscopic way. I’ve also set up a bee #drinking_station for them, which collects a little of the excess water from one of the pots after watering. by @ticino

Happy birthday, Nan 😘. Today would have been your 112th birthday.
The #wisteria came early this year so there are very few flowers left. We did have a marvellous waterfall of colour, as you can see from the third picture. Instead, I offer you this very early #rose, with its exquisite #old-world-scent, which you would have adored.
I still miss you every day, but these beautiful flowers bring me close to you for a few moments, when they are in their prime, because they epitomise all that you loved in a garden: Colour and perfume. by @ticino

Winter sunset through the walnut. I’m in such awe when nature paints the sky like this. However busy I am, I always stop to watch this ephemeral artwork for a few moments as it unfolds .

Posta de sol d’hivern a través del noguerar. Em meravella quan la natura pinta el cel així. Per molt ocupada que estigui, sempre m’aturo a observar aquesta obra d’art efímera durant uns instants mentre es desplega.

Coucher de soleil hivernal à travers le noyer. Je suis toujours émerveillée lorsque la nature peint le ciel ainsi. Aussi occupée que je sois, je m’arrête toujours quelques instants pour contempler ce spectacle éphémère pendant qu’il se dévoile peu à peu.

A carpet of violets spills across the lawn each year, unrolling just as Isabel’s birthday draws near - as though the garden itself remembers. When she was here to see them, there were only a dozen or so of these delicate blooms. Now they return in their hundreds, beautiful and unwavering - a tender, bittersweet echo.

The bees are obsessed, drifting from petal to petal, while the bumblebees look delightfully absurd upon such fragile flowers.

We shan’t mow until the last have faded and the feast is over.

Una catifa de violetes s'estén per la gespa cada any, desplegant-se just quan s'acosta l'aniversari de l'Isabel - com si el jardí mateix en tingués memòria. Quan ella era aquí per veure-les, només hi havia una dotzena escassa d'aquestes flors delicades. Ara tornen a centenars, belles i constants - un eco tendre i agredolç.

Les abelles estan de festa, flotant d'una flor a l'altra, mentre els borinots semblen deliciosament còmics damunt de pètals tan fràgils.

No tallarem la gespa fins que l'última flor s’hagi marcit, i el festí, acabat. by @ticino
