Gibson Chet Atkins SST, Amplified Acoustic Guitar Love
By Megan Fernandez Sometimes, I wonder if I would know a beautiful thing
if I saw it. So often, I was miserable when I was young,
even in California with the ocean close and fat seals
munching flatfish, tonguing urchins in their molars,
sunning themselves pink by the sandy primrose. I ignored
the whistle of the rock-faced mountain and her chorus
of dry hills, walked past the blazing stars and lemons in
dramatic ripe. I was so sad out west. The truth is I am
most exquisite on the east coast, meaning I am in rhythm.
I do not track the world by beauty but joy. That first bite
into the soft carrot of tagine stew while a storm wailed
over the East River. The misfit raccoon bouncing on
trash bins in Central Park after we saw a Japanese play.
We almost crashed a wedding that night at the Boathouse
but lost our nerve. We were not dressed for the caper,
but even this felt like rogue joy. Yes. It was joy, wasn’t it?

Edinburgh Castle. Scotland.

Edinburgh Castle, Author JK Rowling, wrote her book, Harry Potter while in the coffee houses of Edinburgh. Leonardo da Vinci spent his final three years in France, and died in 1519 at age 67 in the Loire Valley. His chateau, the brick-and-marble Clos Lucé, is the artist's only known residence and workplace that is still standing. Chateau Clos Luce, in my opinion, the most livable of Loire Valley Chateaus'.

I am Zuni, I am Shiwi,
I come from the ones who searched for the Middle Place,
a sacred place, protected from disasters like tornados
to live by the guidance of our Koko,
to greet Ho’n A;wan Yadokkya Datchu.
My mother showed me, my father taught me,
as well as hotda, wowo, nana, kuku
to love and care for my family, my siblings,
to breathe in life and blessings,
to greet Ho’n A:wan Yadokkya Datchu.
They gave me strength, they gave me protection
using the words of our ancestors
they showed me the way and how to pray,
to be happy to live and see another day
to greet Ho’n A;wan Yadokkya Datchu.
Like my family before me, like our ancestors before them,
like the prayers passed down to keep our people living,
we will breathe in life and blessings for you to pass on
