New offering, Asklepios Talismans! I’m delighted to share this new offering. I’ve been wanting to make Asklepios Talismans under the auspices of the fixed star Ras Alhague for many years, especially since my visit to the sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidaurus in 2024. The Daimones of Asklepios — aka the stellar spirits of Rasalhague — were called under the auspices of the elected time of 1 June 2026 at 1:55 a.m. PDT in Portland, Oregon, when the Moon conjoined Rasalhague on the Midheaven. During the election the undersides of the gemstones were engraved with the image of a man and a serpent. According to Albertus Magnus in De mineralibus, this image, engraved on a stone credited with protection against poison, was believed to protect its wearer against poisons and venomous bites. Agrippa, in Three Books of Occult Philosophy, says it “chases away poisons and cures poisonous bites.” Material attributed to Arnold of Saxony describes this talisman worn on the person as “freeing its bearer from poison”. The rings were hand carved in wax over a full lunar cycle and cast in sterling silver. The talismanic working was completed on the feast day of Saints Kosmas and Damian. They are our red thread — the living vein connecting us to Asklepios in antiquity. Saint Kosmas and Damian were petitioned for protection from the poison of enemies; healing and guidance through dreams; and the discernment, strength, and clarity to recover from harm without being poisoned by it. Each ring was then set with the engraved carnelian gemstones, a mixture of the petition’s ashes, and sanctury dirt. - read full write up ⬆️ by @tides.of.tethys
I woke up this morning thinking about how the understanding of astrological magic as primarily a method of ontological transformation (magic that works from the inside out) has somehow become a radical position. I don’t think everything begins and ends with the Picatrix, but since some have decided that it does, the text itself says that you must be a student of philosophy to undertake this work. Without this ontological grounding, astrological magic becomes a breeding ground for superstition and spiritual paranoia. Agency begins with asking whether the people and spaces you are involved with are fostering coherence or cultivating fear. by @tides.of.tethys
Yesterday I released the Mer-Moon Mother of Tides talismans. I created her in the form of a siren, from the image described in the Liber Sigillorum for the Moon. What I didn’t mention in the write-up was my own ancestral connection to sirens. My family is from the island of Ithaca (yes, the Ithaca of the Odyssey). My father was born in a little fishing village called Frikes. At the entrance to Frikes is a statue of a siren, or as she is known in Greek, a Nereid. The village has a long history of connection with the Nereids, and in more recent times the statue was erected in response to local sightings of Nereids by the people of the village. (Side 1&2) Since I was a little girl, my uncle used to tell me that Odysseus was our ancestor. In the Odyssey, when Odysseus returns to Ithaca, he first enters the Cave of the Nymphs (slide 5). The cave is said to be a sacred place with stone looms and ever flowing springs, and two entrances, one for mortals and one for the gods, which we saw at this site. It was in this cave that Odysseus hides the treasures given to him by the Phaeacians and that Athena reveals Ithaca to him again. She cleared the mist and showed him Mount Neriton, and that is when he realises that he is home. The veiw from the cave is the mountain in slide 6. At the top of that mountain (mount Neriton?) is Anogi. This is the village my yiayia (grandmother) is from. When we went up to Anogi, we visited the village church, the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary (slide 8). The Virgin venerated there is the Panagia Fidousa the Virgin of the Snakes the same virgin found in the folk tradition of Ithaca’s sister island Kefalonia. Every year on August 15th, the feast of the Dormition of the Virgin, the snakes appear on Kefolonia and are received as signs of the Panagia. The snakes are said to come to venerate her icon. Slide 9 is my own icon of Panagia Fidousa painted by the monks at Mount Athos. Last two slides are my yiayia with my great grandparents and second uncles outside their stone house in Anogi and my papou (grandfather) outside the home in Frikes. by @tides.of.tethys
Mer-Moon Mother of the Tides, Moon in Taurus talismans have launched! Under the Moon make the image of a “half woman half fish holding a branch in one hand and a mirror in the other” adapted from De Lapidibus and Liber Sigillorum, Talismanic Lapidaies of Damigeron and Techel. A magical colleague and friend, who is also a client and has both the Venus in Taurus and Alphecca talismans, just sent me this. Normally I’m my usual super-secret Scorpio self and keep experiences like this between the two of us. Today, though, I’ve decided to share. I receive a lot of wonderful feedback like this, and I genuinely appreciate every person who takes the time to tell me what these talismans have meant in their lives. by @tides.of.tethys

I took a trip to Hood River during the full moon to make the last of the pre-release offerings to the spirits of the Moon talismans, which I offered from this jetty into the Columbia river while Mother Moon looked on in all her glorious fullness. The talismans currently called Mer-Moon-Mom will be pre-released Wednesday. by @tides.of.tethys
last year, with Jupiter as our patron, we threw a wide net for our speakers and workshops, seeking our sages. this year, with Venus as our focus, we asked our neighbors, the people we see weekly, and our loved ones. They’re sages, too, but we asked Genie & Gray to speak at North Star at a neighborhood dinner, celebrating the moon’s conjunction with Spica. Later, the flower further unfurled, at a Venus-night fire: we knew that this was to be a shared talk. Genie and Gray are real-life partners, and they’ll be presenting together. so that’s cute (hi Venus 🫶) if you too wish to meet Alphecca with Genie & Gray and experience the glimmering webs of love and connection Venus weaves, we’d love to have you at North Star 2026. early bird tickets are available until July 18th, four more days! also, check out the website, we’ve added a lot of cool things >:) ty for your beautiful work, @8ofpentacles pictured: the Milky Way poured out over the North Star campout last year by @tides.of.tethys
Alphecca Talismans pre-release this Friday to the Pa- 🌲-on. Inspired by the (thought to be) amethyst, Hieros Gamos rings the initiates of the Dionysian Mysteries wear as documented in the Peter Mark Adams’ book Mystai. by @tides.of.tethys
Alphecca is the bright starry gem in the Northern Crown known as the Corona Borealis constellation. Like the seven stars of the Pleiades, the seven stars of Corona Borealis bear immense importance across ancient cultures. More than a gem bedazzling a crown, Alphecca is the living presence of Ariadne, the Mistress of the Labyrinth. Some say Ariadne is the granddaughter of Helios and Zeus. Others that she is an ancient great goddess of Crete. All agree she entered a sacred marriage with Dionysus, and that she is the protomystes of the Dionysian Mystery cults. Genie Raftopoulos @tides.of.tethys will join me on Monday, May 25 at 5 pm Pacific to explore the magic and mythology of Alphecca and Ariadne. You can access the class through my P🌲on on the Oak tier or through Genie’s. Info in our 🔗 Come to hear stories of dauntless Ariadne of the lovely tresses, her thread that guides through labyrinth paths of descent and ascent, her possession and transmission of the Dionysian current, and the liberation she offers our soul. Genie and I will also be facilitating a labyrinthine field of Alphecca and Ariadne at the @northstarcampout in August! Tickets for North Star will be released next week, check out their site and profile for more information. Since the beginning of 2023 I’ve been teaching monthly classes on fixed stars on my P🌲on. You can access previous recordings by joining, and many past classes are also available for individual purchase there. I also provide astrology consultations on fixed stars in natal charts by paran and degree. I’m good at finding meaningful patterns that open new understanding of your natal chart.
