Saturday, July 11th from 3-9pm - Tide Swing on the Pier!!!1!1!1! 🌞 Up next, we wanted to introduce you all to another homie of the spa, SF’s @lexbeams of @texturesummit . This one has been a longtime coming, and after having spent countless dancefloor moments together, we’re honored to finally have Lex join us in the booth. A bit from her bio: “With a background in design and roots in San Francisco’s DIY underground, Lexbeams approaches DJing with a love of collecting and an instinct for energy and mood. Led by taste, intuition, and a restless sense of curiosity, her relationship to music has always been shaped by discovery. Her first real pull toward dance music started at a young age, when she got her hands on a family friend’s hefty CD collection filled with burned rave mixes. This sort of accidental archive opened the door to the world of dance music. Equally at home at off-the-grid parties and intimate club nights, Lexbeams bring a sensitivity to space and intuition to her selections. Her sets often weave together sexy basslines, heady house, hazy dub-inflected textures, and left-field moments that reflect her eclectic ear. She values music that is in service to the party, tuned to the dancers, the hour, and the atmosphere taking shape. Her sound balances deep grooves with moments of lift. With this Saturday’s afternoon swing (7/11!!!) just a few days away, we figured it was time to start introducing yall to the ladies who’ll be holding it down in the booth. First up is none other than tireless digger and public records resident @sinead.dj . Bay Area born and of Iranian and Irish descent, Sinéad has been a part of the TIde Swing family since we first had her play Apéro back in 2023. To this day, that was likely the craziest night we’ve ever had there, with people literally spilling out into the street 😂 Fast forward a few years, and Sinéad has since toured all over Europe and Britain, with appearances at Manchester’s The White Hotel, Leeds’ Wire, London’s Fabric, Edinburgh’s Sneaky Petes and Paris’ Djoon, amongst others. Stateside, she’s rocked dance institutions including Chicago’s smartbar for the legendary queer night Queen!, and even the beach stage at Sunset Campout. For a little taste of what’s to come from the Danley rig this Saturday, be sure to peep her many shows on NYC’s @thelotradio , and get ready for a 2 hour closing masterclass in pumping west-coast house. 3-9pm, Saturday July 11th at the Humble Sea Beer Garden on the pier. Wyllie. Koko. Andrew. Santa Cruz is losing a one-of-a-kind human this week. Insanely talented; deep thinking, deeper loving; annoyingly photogenic. This man has a work ethic like no other: undeniable to anyone who’s danced to the records he’s dug for or tasted the beers he’s made. The dude can skate, surf, chef, and dial in a ML-185 sequencer to create alien percussive textures like no other. Need a knife? Wyllie has it for you (handle first obvi) in a fraction of a second. Wanna go on a bike ride on west cliff to catch the sunset? *knock knock* he’s already outside your house waiting for you We found out that Andrew got a job offer from his dream brewery up in Portland a few weeks ago. A while back, he was considering moving to use another brewery as a stepping stone to eventually land at this one. Instead, he was invited right to the top step. No surprise, really. Tide Swing (and our entire Santa Cruz family) is absolutely gutted to lose you, but are even more stoked to see what’s to come, up north. daaaang this thursday sure came quick!!! 3 years(!!!) ago we had @jimmybnice play with us at @theaperoclub we are so hyped to have him back for our monthly thursday at Cat Alley. Be sure to peep his recent set for @program.audio on their YouTube page. A bit from his bio: “Jimmy B has been acclaimed amongst the finest DJs in the everlasting underground scene of the Bay Area. As a Bay Area resident growing up in the 80s, Jimmy was fortunate to be influenced by a diverse array of culture, especially In the late 90s when he was introduced to various forms of underground music around the post west coast rave scene.” In addition to Jimmy, we’re bringing two new faces into the swing - @stereostairs aka Alex cut his teeth DJing in chicago with the likes of killer DJs including Garrett David and plenty more. These days you might see him behind the counter at @offshore.sounds and we’re stoked hear what records he brings out for us Last but not least, J Zen aka @jasenmcjasen has been a longtime homie of tide swing and one of the few others in Santa Cruz helping push the underground house scene. Whether he’s noodling with hardware in the studio or throwing raves in the woods, we love this guy and are honored he was down to close out the dance. it’s almost Thursday, and we’ve got two(!) tide swing debuts coming in v hot Rocking us with a 2 hour peak time slot, we are stoked to have Santa Cruz-born and uk dance aficionado @ryanlincolnn join us in the booth. Many of you probably don’t know it, but as early as 2015, Lincoln and his high school buddies were bringing underground uk dubstep acts to SC for their US debuts. Even earlier, he was fully entrenched in the hyphy movement, and still has just about every Mac Dre record released in his record shelves. Nowadays, he’s constantly digging digging for deep cuts of uk funky, garage-tinged house, & other corners of refined-yet-raucous club music. Be sure to peep his soundcloud for archives of his jetty show, Shelf Life, as well as his vinyl-only track Crush on Club (slide 2) with @rikvinegar on r.downstairs’ new dubplate imprint. Warming up the room, Tee Time ( @jettyradio ) host Randy3k aka @rachaelmccue is sure to have us asking for track IDs from start to finish. We met Randy at Sunset Campout back in 2023, and have since spent more afters trading tracks than we’d care to admit ;] Last but not least, @_wyllie_ closes things out like only the brewmaster can.
