We were free before we knew it.

She already knew.

That’s Juneteenth. Not a date on a calendar. The moment you realize the chains were never the truth.

We commissioned @tierra_armstrong to bring this to life. She took our vision and painted it on the side of a building. These eyes. This face. This is what happens when Black creatives trust each other.

We stood here as a tribe. The diaspora, proud, unashamed. A Black woman covering the side of a building in Wynwood. Stopping traffic.

Celebrate. Black history all year long.

Happy Juneteenth.

The year of The Fire horse. I made this painting before I knew the symbolism of the next year ahead. I tired to illustrate something many of us only ever feel, that moment before acceleration, when the body agrees with the soul agreeing to align to our higher calling shedding whatever internal beliefs that no longer assisted our mission. Painful yet deeply relieving.

I haven’t been posting my canvas work on here much but this felt fitting to share. by @tierra_armstrong

Wow what a time! Finally have the recap from what I can only describe as such a lovely self affirming experience honoring such a beautiful community. From the unveil to the screening I was on a high. Thank you to my love ones that came out to celebrate my work. And to those in the community that shared their beautiful words and experience. @jesseplane created a true gem of a residency with the @therollupclt I like to call it the gift that keeps on giving! To @1stkind who not only supported my crazy antics through this process but created such a beautiful film! That I can't wait to continue screening! So keep a look out! @jy.originals was the realest MVP don't know what I would've done without her. The crew that flew out and made the experience extra special

Titled “The Hill Has Wings.”
As a space transformer, I think deeply about the energy colors can bring to a place. After listening to the voices of Hill District residents in Pittsburgh, it became clear that love, for each other and for tradition, was at the heart of this community.
Rather than echoing tributes to those who came before, I wanted to gift something that speaks to the living magic of this neighborhood, the spirit that has already given birth to so much greatness. This mural is a reminder that we can each carve out a magical path of our own, lifted by the people who share our space.
Witnessing the ways neighbors show up for one another left me with a full heart and a refreshed outlook. I’m deeply honored to have been part of this year’s @therollupclt initiative. by @tierra_armstrong

Stills from a project I’m very excited about! What a beauty it is to be able to pick up your things and journey around sharing your love for the world to the world. A timeless shot for a timeless place.
