Here is Part 1-3 summarized of my detangling session with my client. ➰➰

I felt it was important to give the back story first before showing the shorter version of what happened and how we were able to get her hair fully detangled and not hurt her again.

By using great products from Devacurl partnered with technique I was able to give amazing results to my client with ease.

PART 3 ⭐️

Reestablishing Trust ⭐️

Establishing and in this case reestablishing trust is so important when you are working with your clients especially children.

Block out time and take your time. Even though I was being gentle I hurt her in the process.

I never wanted to hurt her again but most importantly I wanted her to know that I would never hurt her again too.

By using the Wash Day Wonder I was able to continue with the service and fully detangle her hair.

Trust is so important throughout the service.

By communicating to her the process, taking my time, and wanting her to feel safe with me taking care of her and her hair I was able to complete her service without hurting her again.

PART 2 ⭐️

The Process⭐️

Detangling small sections using your fingers first allow you to work through the sections and feel for tangles.

I like to apply warm water first all over the section. Massage the warm water in to help separate and to absorb.

Next I like to apply the Wash Day Wonder by @Devacurl to help the detangling process.

This slip-enhancing formula with the Tangle-Release Complex melts away tangles to ease wash day and styling so tangle-prone curls are softer and more manageable.

Feel free after the finger detangling to go in with your favorite detangling brush.

I personally like to use my fingers throughout the process and follow up with a tool after cleansing and applying the conditioner to the hair.

PART 1 ⭐️

I hurt my client!

Detangling hair especially kids can be hard.

But with good techniques and products you can detangle with ease.

I hurt my client in the process on the first session.

Even though I didn’t mean to, it happened and I never want to do this especially for a child.

Watch how I react and am able to continue with the service by reassurance and in future videos reestablishing trust.

Tips for working with Kid Clients 👧👶⬇️

Working with children can be fun and rewarding!

Some of my best clients are children just due to their honesty and their playful nature.

Here are some tips to make sure that they are comfortable throughout the entire session:

1. 👶👧Establish trust: Especially if this is your very first time taking care of this child client, it’s important to know, and understand that their needs matter! 🫶🏾 Take time to ask questions about their likes and dislikes, ask them about their day, and make sure that they’re comfortable with the style that you’re getting ready to perform.
2. 👧👶Create a fun environment: children need a sense of comfort when they are in an unfamiliar space. Ask their parent or guardian to bring their favorite blanket, tablet, stuffed animal, or anything that they like that won’t interfere with the service. Having these items will keep the child calm and sometimes preoccupied while you were doing the service.
3. 👶👧Always remember their breaks: Child clients may have a hard time with sitting for long periods of time. Make sure to allow for breaks for your kid client to go to the restroom or just stretch. Have a designated area where they can go and play. Make sure to monitor the time so that you can finish the service too.

Hopefully these tips will help you with success servicing a child client.👶👧
