As a Poet all I have are my words. I’ve come to learn we live with our eyes to the world and 10,000 thoughts on paper/notes and sometime they never get to see the light of day. I wanted to change that. Some of us have gold beneath layers of lined papers.

Backstory: Please Read 👇🏽

Hi 👋🏼 - for those of you new to this page, I’m Tifany MarSah, a spoken word poet based in London and I’ve been in a season of planting my mustard seed.

I like to say spoken word was the first thing I ever did that never felt like I could get wrong — even if I did. And that’s how I knew it was of me. Mine to keep, to nurture, and to fuel.

I’ve been sat away from the scene for most of the year, trying to figure out: how do I preserve this craft? This passion? What matters to me in my world of creativity?

I wouldn’t be who I am without what raised me. I wouldn’t hear the world the way I do — write, produce, imagine — you get the picture…

I kept asking myself: What am I leaving behind? What am I producing that’s worth being referenced? Studied? Collaborated with? How can it live to be a reference, am producing work that is worth of this honour … do I have to? What and who am I creating for?

And then I wondered: How many of you inspire me? What do you read? Listen to? What conversations have fuelled your works?

And then ROOTS was born.

“How Do Your Roots Influence The Way You Create?” is a 3-month guided program for diaspora poets, writers, and diverse creatives to explore how our roots shape our creativity.

Out of a desire for communal finding, understanding, and a desire for more than what my roots know. I want to learn from you all. Understand how you hear language — whatever its format — with no reason other than bringing intentional conversation and discovery into creativity.

And that’s what this program is — a space to explore that together.

We are the future. Are you open to understanding just how much? by @tifaqui_

My uncles passing has been a loss i cant explain. Probably never will. There’s no end date to this series. It’s just to help me get to a point where i do find it eventually. If i do. Whatever I have to say about my Tio Mario hasn’t formed yet so let me speak on this moment first …

It’s fair to say, this show for my family and I was more than what any of us anticipated.
@djodje_sabboy thank you for believing in me, creating one of my greatest memory to date and continuously inspiring us. Words aren’t enough for the love I have for you and all that you do.

To my cousins - my children. “Who can say they are performing on stage with their family” has been the highlight of my joy fr.

The community of aunties and uncles who teach me - the love for music, stage and honour for craft. Thank you for listening to your callings, for not giving up. I see you. You inspire me truly.
