To be in the pink.🌷I think my favorite thing about capturing tulips is to make them look magical like from another world. These are from the past at Skagit Valley tulip fields. I did not find any fields in the Bay Area this year, so I’m thinking next year, I’ll go back home for the blooms. Nothing like them!!!

A little pollen boop! I had to look that up. Looks like this hummingbird’s beak was deep in salvia and contributing to the pollination process serendipitously. Spring is springing! 🪻🪻🪻

I was manifesting finding a burrowing owl yesterday. I found one, or did it find me? I was scanning for potential squirrel holes where they live and walked by this small ball of cuteness at first. A lovely gentleman had come up behind me to alert me of the owl. I was like “oh 💩, how did I miss!” Kindness does still exist and I’m forever grateful. This burrowing owl was a bit sleepy and stayed in this position until there was no sunlight left.

Love watching and capturing the white-tail kite diving and hunting for prey. They are like little angelic creatures floating and fluttering (aka kiting) above the grassland here in HMB. Learning much about them and read that they were once considered endangered around the 1940s. Conservation efforts over the decades has increased their population and mostly found in California and Texas.

One of my favorite spots along the Big Sur coast, McWay Falls. It’s been awhile since I’ve been here and the trail with the fence is no longer accessible. I feel like there were more composition spots this way. Anyway, grateful for the newish vista spot although I was trying to manifest some clouds but it’s wasn’t in the cards. I’m only a few hours away, so I’ll be back soon!!!

Monarch butterflies in flight! Probably the most challenging subject I’ve ever tried to photograph flying about. This lovely cluster dispersed and I was in shock because it happened so fast. I caught a few of them still flying pictured in this carousel. They are such magical little beings and worth all the neck pain endured looking up for hours 😆🫶

Wishing you all the best in the new year! I hope amazing adventures and loving life is on your resolution list. Feels strange to say that coming from here these days with all the turmoil going on. This is going to be a pivotable year here and I’m hopeful that the collective power as individuals rise up for humanity’s sake. I know I will do my part and be in the right side of history. For now, I’m focusing on the beauty we have to offer here in nature to get through these days such as this lovely barn owl. Fierce and determined to find that vole! 😊

Around Christmas I always think about castles and how much I’d love to throw a holiday feast in one. I sifted through my Scotland photos and started reminiscing about all the castles I explored on my trip. Admittedly, I did get a bit castled out on my journey and a lot of history started getting jumbled between places which why I’m not the best at regurgitating the historical facts😆. Mostly I enjoy the spooky lore and legends surrounding castles. Eilean castle was built early 13th century and has much lore like the Otter King where the island was a resting place for the mythical otters. If a person could capture an Otter King, they would grant a wish in exchange to be let go. Their silver coat was to grant immortality and invincibility. I always thought otters were too cool. The island was also believed to be home to mermaids and seal maidens popular in selkie tales. Also, there are two ghosts that haunt the grounds, Carlos, a Spanish soldier and Lady Mary who is believed to be the wife of a past commander stationed at the castle. I did not feel anything walking around but other castles I did and I’ll save for another time… 👻😬
