Rant Alert!
I have spent my entire life working in the Entertainment business. I started playing professionally at 14. I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I have seen a large portion of the planet. I am now 55. This photo says it all. We used to be the place you “had” to come to. Even if you started in NYC, you ended up here. Now all that’s left is nostalgia. We sell the world fake celeb tours, schools to teach you how to succeed in the biz, photos of homeless people in dirty Marvel costumes. Our city was built on exploiting those that came here with a dream. “Prove them wrong” on a film school?!?!
The proof: spend 50k on a school that teaches you to do what you are already doing and offers no help once they have your money. Our studios are empty, our clubs no longer book local bands (the few that are left), theaters are struggling to keep the lights on, it’s $700. to go to see a national tour. Our business ate its young, left those willing struggle for their art to die. And now you cry foul! “There’s no work, no one pays for art any longer”.
F*#K OFF! We built this system by letting the accountants, corporations and lawyers dictate. If you’ve never stood onstage and poured your heart out, go sit down , you don’t get to tell us how to “Prove them Wrong”! You Are The THEM!!!!! Ok, rant over, back to rehearsal.. #tigmoore by @tig_moore
